Hello everyone,

I am try to track down a RG 125 Gamma like the one enclosed, from the 80's to buy for my mate who has a 50th birthday this year. He had one of these when we were 17 ! And I want to get him one just to surprise him.

Can anyone help at all or point me in the right direction?

Cheers

James

They'll all be dead now on account of being 2 stroke and being ragged by 17 year olds when they were new.

I know, I was one of them....

Fisty got Donk’d.

Don’t worry, he’ll be back to getting upset about brown people again soon.

Feck! More '80s than Don Johnson's white suit!

I regularly have a browse at old bikes on eBay 'cos... well, comparing dick sizes with my old thing Very Happy and I've not seen one of those turn up in a while. Best of luck.

I'd be looking at owners groups first. They're too rare now for general classifieds.

This bag of rusty nails with parts missing will be a money pit.

A decent complete bike will be setting you back well over £2K. Don't think you can pick up a tidy one for a few hundred quid like you could in the 80's.

I've hung on to a couple of TZR250's and a TDR250 for this very reason, but I'd only sell one of the TZR's at a push.

Just sent a message offering to do straight swap of his RG for 12 toilets rolls. I await a reply accepting...

Garage find my arse. Looks more like a scrap yard has been stripping parts and slowly selling them off over the years and now the boss has told his minions to clear out all the old rubbish. I would have thought that level of rust would only come from a decade of being left in the rain. Fecking big hole in that there garage roof!

Totally agree, but to someone it would be worth the money for the frame. Not as a project on it's own though.

The fact that the engine is there but is missing casings means it's probably bolloxed.

Barge pole etc.

One thing I remember is they rot like bodyguards teeth. I remember seeing one at less than three years old and the swing arm and brake linkage / torque arm looked like marine salvage. Were never hugely popular when new so attrition will mean few viable ones remain. The pile of spares listed above is just that, not a viable resto.

If I trusted you with my details, they should still be on Mylaps. I don't trust you, as part of the Nobby/Ste club though.

I raced in the Yamaha Past Masters series for 5 seasons , I regularly finished in the top 3 whilst in the rookie class and usually top half/top third overall. I also weighed over 15 stone with 50bhp and road legal tyres on a converted 80's road 250cc 2T.

My best lap on the Indy was 55.9 seconds, which is still 3 seconds a lap slower than the class lap record for the same bike.
Personally, I don't give a stuff if you believe me or not. You could ask your mate Jewlio, he's probably got it in his stalking file on me somewhere.

Edit, On the Bemsee timesheet archive, I've found a 56.9 already. My quickest times were before my big accident, air ambulance and intensive care visit.

So the answer is no.

Seems that now Donk’s been outed as a racist scumbag he’s taking his vitriol out on random users in the other forums like the bitter old gammon he is.

If he has done a sub 56 lap of Brands it predates TSL so I’ll guess we’ll never know. Handy that.
