So I used to have a great little blow torch that took the small screw in Calor Gas bottle.
It’s been lost in the dark depths where things go to hide forever when you move house.

Now I need a new one for assisting the removal of stubborn nuts & bolts
I want a nice small pointy flame and not a great big cover all flame thrower.

Any recommendations?

Yes yes I know I can just roll up to Tool Station or B&Q but I’m just asking cos you may know better Thumbs Up

You want a trigger-operated screw-on torch with piezoelectric ignition which can go onto propane or map gas cylinders. I've got a "Turbo Torch" a bit like the TX504, which is the best I've seen so far. I would get something similar, there are similar (and cheaper) available.

Not the cheapest, but this will do everything you want and can take both propane/butane mixes plus MAPP gas. Thumbs Up

Mine's a TurboTorch TL-44 ("turbo lite?), not sure you can buy them now, the replacement seems to be the TX-504 like this one:

Excellent. Spare parts are available. Adjustable flame, even works upside-down, too. There's a similar Brenzomatic and Rothenberger on Screwfix's website, not sure whether or not they have the same features, though.

Yes, these. I got one for my Christmas, they are awesome. You can dial in the reducing quality of the flame too.

Probably not all that focused a flame mind.

I have this....

https://www.sitebox.ltd.uk/clarke-fc109-gas-torch-with-nozzles-oclarke_3404100

3 different nozzles and the smallest is very focused.

I run it off a 13 kg propane bottle though, which isn't the most portable bit of kit. However it lasts forever.

Bargain bin:

I've been using it to reshape a fuel tank and some silver soldering.

I spotted this when I was in Toolstation today:

https://www.toolstation.com/vortex-map-torch-pack/p71324

I've no experience with it but it seems to tick boxes with nozzles?

Edit - it's cheap!!

I hate toolstation. It makes me buy things I don't need.

Also it show you are getting old when the catalogue is preferred bedtime reading over Mayfair.

Basically the same nozzle as mine but I paid half for the benefit of a hose, much better control Smile
