Hey all,

So I am in a situation where I have a valid cbt, I used to ride a 125cc for a few years (I had to sell my 125cc so don't have a bike at the moment), then decided to do DAS training last summer. I failed mod 1 (so I couldn't do my mod 2 which was booked on the same day Sad ).

Since then I have had a lot going on and lost confidence to get back on the bike and try again.

I am sure the obvious responses are "suck it up and do it", however, I would appreciate some posts offering encouragement, suggestions, advice, experiences of others, etc.

Appreciate it.

Get a cheap 125, ride it. Check on line for the layout of the Mod 1 measurements (U-turn, cone slalom, etc. etc.), practice those disciplines so that your finer machine control skills are back up to scratch. Check youtube for advice and guidance on Mod 1 and Mod 2 drills. Find school, book lessons, take lessons, book Mod 1 / Mod 2 slots, take Mod 1 and Mod 2. And bear in mind that you're now approaching spring / summer when schools can be at their busiest. Once completed, sell 125 with very little depreciation if you bought a Japanese bike.

What Mr TSCG said would be sound advice.

Buy 125 and ride lots so you are familiar with bike and easily in control of said bike.

The only advice I can give is rip the plaster off so to speak and ring up and get some lessons booked. I found that once that I had committed to something it was less scary than the thought of committing to something.
Don't book your MOD1 and MOD2 for the same day..
Good luck 😁

suck it up and do it Mr. Green

nah, just kidding.........but just do it anyway.

Yeah, the mod1 test sadly is the hardest test of them all. once you pass it, you will find the last test (mod 2 ) a easy test, just ride your bike at a slow normal pace and you will pass no problem (as my instructor said, just ride like you have your grandma riding with you)

before we start giving you advise and encourage Can you remember on the mod 1 test which part you failed on?

I agree with the above mod 1 is the hardest part for me. I failed mod 1 went home and sulked about it.. Then I decided to do some research.
I found some dude on youtube who had videos covering the full test, mod 1 and mod 2 separated, he talks you through exactly what the instructor wants to see.
For most of us a test is just that, show the examiner what he wants to see. I've done my test 2ce since then A2 and A no faults both times. Go back now you know exactly what to do, don't book your mod 2 until you've passed or you might risk your test fees.

Agree, don't book mod 2 until passed mod 1. For one thing it will put more pressure on you when doing mod 1.

I did the opposite and did a 'guaranteed pass' option, where they retrained and retested you for free if you failed. As pressure free as you're going to get on a driving test.

Thanks all for your input, advice and posts.

Nobby the Bastard, not sure what that was all about Question, you should be thanking me for giving you the opportunity to massage that ego. At first, I thought you were just being cruel to be kind, then I looked at some of your other posts, and it all made sense, you really are doing this forum proud Rolling Eyes . Anyway, I am engaging with your message which is exactly what you want, so I will stop. I am expecting something equally mature from you in response.

Does anyone know what happens if a CBT expires after passing mod 1 and before passing mod 2? Does the mod 1 pass then become invalid? Or is it a case of just doing another cbt and continue on with the mods.

Your mod 1 is valid for the life of your theory test. CBT can be redone.

Hey, just start at the beginning again and work up your confidence. It will all work out ok. And soon you will be gliding around country roads etc.
But,, in the meantime, just watch loads of vids on youtube about mod 1 and mod2, get it all clear in your head and get with a decent training school who will guide you..

You wont always get positve feedback here, its a forum and its how they seem to be even in the biker world. Smile
