Picking up the new bike tomorrow, since I'm a fair weather rider I'm thinking about getting a trickle charger to hook up when it's stood for a while.

Any recommendations?

Are they safe to hook up and leave for a while?

I assume they're safe on modern bikes? They'll not fry my ECU or anything?

Cheers

I've had an Optimate 4 for several years, hook it up for a few hours here and there when working in the shed over winter, or overnight if the bike is in the outhouse. Can't fault it.

Optimate, Ctec. Oxford do one.

Just get one for a bike and you can leave it connected. Personally for my bike I'd pay for a name brand rather than some ebay knock off.

Opimate make connectors that can permanently attached to the battery with the plug easily accessible to connect in the garage. Maybe others do, I don't know.

I have an ancient optimate which is still going strong.

I hava a noko genius 1100 charger as it will do lithium batteries too. Cheaper than an optimate and works really well.

Had an Optimate 3 since 2013 on almost 24/7 as it cycles 2 bikes.

Bike batteries have lasted 5 years and been replaced purely on age, not on condition.

So the charger seems very good Thumbs Up

I needed a charger for the car battery (long story).
I needed the charger today. Pronto.
Halfords.
Maintenance chargers.
Not too expensive and they have a guarantee.

The one I got £60 but it's a truck battery in the car.

I have three cteks on the bikes though. I hate the car.
