I dropped my old moped off to its new owners today, a 13 mile ride away. Having not been used much at all in the least few months, its ran nicely I thought and everything worked well. Howver pulling up to a roundabout a good 6 miles into the Journey (those 6 miles mostly flat out), the bike bogged right down and when I pulled away it seemed to be stuck inh top ratio. No matter what I tried to get the thing back into the lower ratios worked, and I ended up having to explain the problem to the new keeper when I recieved the money and told him if there was a major problem I would see what I could do (after all, I had sold the bike as fully working, which it was when he agreed to buy it).

I was wondering, does anyone have an idea why it is stuck in the top ratio? It hasn't been used at all really since I got my new bike (4 Months or so ago) and I was thinking that it was this lack of use coupled with suddenly being run flat out for 6 miles that could have locked it into the ratio. It was fine around town before I took it out onto the main road, and I have never had this problem before.

Any ideas, or advice chaps? I know I could have just left it there and not told them about it, claiming ignorance if they called me, but I havent got the heart to do such a thing, and the people I sold it to paid a good price for it, so I would rather have a clear conscience and be a few pennies out of pocket instead of kepping all the money and feeling guilty over leaving them with faulty goods, when they brought it in good faith.

Cheers, Jonathan

Sounds like the rollers are sticking, maybe they've not been greased?! Maybe they're worn out? Only way you'll know is if you take the casing off.

Cheers guys, will go up and grease the rollers, I think its probably that they are lacking from grease more than they are worn out. I havent had any probs with them before, and having been laid up for a fair while I think its more likelly that this is the problem Thumbs Up .

Cheers, Jonathan
