So thank you all for the helpful tips.

So what do you hope to achieve?
For it to go faster? bigger pistons normally rev slower, and the gearing has stayed the same so not really.
Faster acceleration? Probably not either, the carburettor is matched/jetted to the 50cc, so won't give max power from the 70cc piston volume.
So apart from the head/piston upgrade you'd need to upgrade the carburettor, and either front or rear sprockets...just saying.
If you do it, please be sure to post the results. |

When I read your first post, I thought you were a troll, and spamming for amusement or whatever. My reply was flippant, and I now apologise. After your second post, you cast doubt over my initial judgment (& who the fuck are you to judge I hear you all ask, well get over it, you all do it), as the post had a smidgen of sincerity. I have moderated my posts to reflect your sincerity with the project, but that doesn't mean I won't take the proverbial in the future...when/if the opportunity arises.

I weight 15 stones the bike only barley reach 21mph on flat but up the hill down to 12mph! now the bike unable to reach 21mph easily. I have found the piston ring lose compression means lose power! the mile is 24,000 miles. What I want to achieve? I want to reach 30-35mph is good enough, my aim is fit performance exhaust, carb upgrade large port what I saw online and change to 70cc from 49cc. I am expect to get 6bhp roughly what the specialist suggest. I don't think I can have CDI box the bike is too old. |
Then you are on the right path..but as

wrote...on a different engine the throttle cable nipple, exhaust connections and mounting brackets may also differ....so you've got a little work to do either way.
Is 24K mile a lot for a moped, if so then there's a possibility the internals will be worn too, the replacement engine could be looking like a plus.
Update:
Ah.... finding a 70cc replacement engine with pedals will be impossible, they don't make one. Pedals are a moped legal requirement I believe, as is being 50cc. You could just replace the piston with an oversized one after a rebore. That would keep it legal for insurance and restore some of the lost power. Have you actually measured the compression? |

The definition of "moped" in the UK is just 50cc, limited power and speed, dunno about other countries, no one cares about pedals any more. However, fitting a non-pedal engine would mean adding foot pegs... among other things.
Anyhoo, a noble task to keep it going for the memories If you feel the bottom end is up to the task then crack on. You might not need to go as far as a new carb for a bump to 70cc, a larger jet may be sufficient.
If I may suggest that any airbox and exhaust changes are at least in keeping with the period ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |
