as the title says.. Ive been on compare etc and most policies dont cover punctures or require you to carry a spare tyre or kit.

Does anyone here use a recovery company when doing long bike trips.?

nationwide cover, recovery home or onward and punctures (not needing to carry a kit)

Buy a few more CO2 bulbs to go with it, takes 10 minutes to use

I have breakdown cover but I also carry a tin of tyreweld in my panniers. Unless it is something fairly terminal, I will always try and fix the bike at the roadside before calling for recovery. I still have the bikes original tool kit under the seat with a couple of extra bits like fuses, cable ties, jubilee clips and a couple of coils of wire.

Thing with tyre weld is you then need to take it easy and get it properly sorted. A repair and you can crack on as normal.

I would only use the tyreweld to get me home or get me to somewhere I can get a new tyre.

The AA recovered me from the Scottish Borders 160 odd miles home with a puncture - they suggested they'd plug it but would only recommend that for up to 50 miles (I think). My destination was 140 miles one way and home 160, and it was a Sunday late afternoon.

I now get breakdown with my bank account. They’re Europewide too, any vehicle (within reason, presumably). I ASSUME they’d cover punctures, but I will now check...

It used to be very common to use those sealants in the Goldwing world because the 1500 was such an utter pig to remove the rear wheel from.

I had one make in my 1500 (can't remember which). No wheel balance problems and never got a puncture Thumbs Up

Those were the days before tyre repair kits were common.

As to your other question, I had the AA out to wifeys bike with a puncture and they repaired it for her. They also said go and get the tyre replaced but I suspect they were just arse covering.

I use it in my k1300 and that sees 128+MPH.
I think a guy I met in the pub was riding officer.

Just put exactly the recommended quantity in the tires and there will be no out of balance.

Some tyre place Snowflakes bleat about having to clean the tyre rim when they fit new tyres.
If they moan take the business elsewhere.

It's polite to let them know that sealant is in the tyre before the strip the.

One bottle is enough for a bike plus some left over for your wheel barra.

I think around £25.

There are people who will come to you home/work and do it for you. But not as cheap as DIYing it.

When I reviewed my setup (happens to be LV Personal) I asked and confirmed it included such. They'll recover the bike (like home) - few folk will mess about covering a puncture repair itself, my cover includes recovery.
