Really easy. PROVIDING YOU DO NOT LOOSE THE LITTLE R-CLIP THING!
Wear gloves. brake dust is nasty.
They are held in with a pin which is in turn prevented from coming out by a little R-clip (which is a special shape fro that calliper). Take the clip out, remove the pin (you may need to push it through from the back with a small drift/nail whatever). pads will lift out.
Give it all a clean up with spray brake cleaner (I use an old toothbrush to get all the dust off).
Push the pistons back in, I can usually do it with my thumbs or you can gently lever them back in with an old screwdriver if you put the old pads back in. Fit the new pads (I put a very thin smear of copper grease on the back of the brake pads) making sure they engage in the metal anti-rattle clip properly. Insert the pin. Insert the clip. Done.
Put them back on, pump them back up to pressure. Check the fluid level. Check they work. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
