Bike lives on the street - I can't leave it on the trickle charger. Haven't used it for a couple of weeks. Battery voltage goes below the magic number and the tracker sends me an email. There was enough juice to turn the engine over, disaster averted. Fanbloodytastic!

Shocked I didn't know they could do that.

What model do you have?

Everything about Biketrac is good. I won't have a bike without one any more.

The website is a little confusing on it's pricing. So you have to buy the decide for £300 and then continue to pay £10 a month to use the app? Seems a little steep.

Plus a small fortune for installation. It still saves you money when your bike is stolen and recovered.

BikeTrac is the best. I've got one, can't fault them what-so-ever.

It's piece of mind in the end, but I guess it depends on the value of your bike and where abouts you live as to whether it's worth it for you.

I had mine fitted for free when I bought the bike. The insurance company insisted on its installation.

I had a Biketrac on my previous bike and it did the same; however, if I left the bike unused it would send me the warning in about 12-14 days. Once I forgot to recharge the battery and after 3 weeks it was toast - I had to change it. This was with a 12.6 Ah battery.

Previous owner, without the tracker, didn't use the bike for 2 months and had no issues starting it.

So, good product but it drains the battery quickly! Keep it in mind if you have a small battery (most sportsbikes have batteries with < 12 Ah) and/or cannot trickle charge it easily. Of course, if you declared it to the insurer but then your bike gets stolen while the tracker wasn't working because the battery was dead. there's strong chance your claim will be rejected!

Does any one know if DataTool or other trackers drain less battery?

Monimoto seems like a better compromise: not as sophisticated, but it's a separate unit with its own battery, so the bike's battery doesn't get drained.

PS This was leaving the bike out in the street, with a clear GPS signal. If you leave it in a garage or in some underground parking the battery will be drained much more quickly.

(Sorry to revive such an old thread), according to Biketrac the above is untrue, the tracker does not try to check in any more often (and thus use more battery) if it doesn't have GPS signal because it's underground or in a garage etc. It checks in once every 4 hours by default (this can be changed if u request it), if it can't check in due to no signal, it simply logs this and tries again in another 4 hours. It does not use anymore battery if it has no signal.
