I have a Galaxy Tab A 32GB,(10.5", 4g+wifi), provided by work. Can't fault it. Battery seems to never die, doesn't get hot when watching netflix, makes a great Satnav.

More than double your budget though but there is an 8" wifi only version for £139.

I wouldn't touch any tablet from Amazon. Usually full of bloatware and vendor lock in.

I dont use anything by amazon. But i did do a hack on it which took 2 mins to get the full google play store as I needed an app to set off my camera using the tablet when on location (commercial work)

The tablet is way faster than the previous ipad (was only 3rd gen)
I use it for netflix when travelling, youtube, emails etc, and never had anything about amazon pop up.

you can get ipads for £100 but there low generation usually.

Thanks, that makes Fire tablets a lot more likely to be on my shopping list.

Another vote for Amazon: if you can get the bloat off the hardware is solid. I bought one of those kids' ones when they first came out. Finally died when little'un wrecked the charging port but the screen was still intact.
