No, not the biking itself . . . but what's responsible in the light of the current coronavirus situation?
I don't see any issue with riding solo (at the moment at least) - OK, so you could argue if you come off you're contributing to the load at the hospital but hopefully it's pretty unlikely. But how about riding with a mate? While actually riding you're obviously "socially distanced" but inevitably you pull over occasionally and have chinwag . . . is that acceptable? What about grabbing a brew . . . so I think sitting in at a Cafe is probably not very responsible . . . but what about getting a brew to take outside? Where do we draw the line? Or is this summer going to effectively be an extension of the winter as far as biking is concerned? ____________________ TG. |

Take a flask and sandwiches, keep your gloves on and use pay at pump. Zero interaction with the great unwashed. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

I'd guess consultant orthopaedic surgeons will be sat twiddling their thumbs.
I will be riding my motorcycle.
I am also going to go camping with a group of mates next weekend. We were going to be going in a hostel.
I look forwards to having a wide selection of wild camping sites with plentiful wood. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

If we want to stop the virus everyone stays exactly where they are for two weeks
Realistically though it's best to not be rubbing shoulders with the great unwashed. Biking itself with a few mates would be very low risk... unless you have very stoopid mates:
So how's the family, everyone well?
"Fine... my aunt got back from Italy just in time, before they stopped the flights."

I'm genuinely of the oppinion that even if one of my mates has it, I'm not going to catch it off them by going camping with them. It's outside and the closest we'll get is sitting round a fire (which has its own positive effects in terms of local air circulation).
Main risk is picking up the wrong beer. And nae passing round of funny-shaped cigarettes, roll your own.. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

If going out, can anyone account for every interaction of every other person for the last 15 days?
Or rather, has every person that will be interacted with been in isolation for 15 days?
Almost certainly no.
The virus can spread via air, so simply not touching things isn't a guarantee to not get it.
Reuters reports the army have been brought in to transport bodies out of Lombardy because the crematoriums are overrun.
"Unfortunately we can’t contain the situation in Lombardy. There’s a high level of contagion and we’re not even counting the dead any more"
In the end though. We don't really know the exact risk levels. And we want to do things and see people.
Avoiding enclosed space, keeping outside, avoiding anyone with a cough or sore throat, washing hands, not touching face or food etc
For now, that seems as good as we can do without either more information (that no one has) or draconian rules imposed. |

Do you have a trustworthy source for that? Only I was under the impression it was either spread by droplets from respiration, or on contact. Hence the 2 metre spacing diktat. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Yeah, it's just the way he worded it didn't seem all that clear to me. All current distancing measure are still just to slow in down. Its not going to be eliminated so they say. Remove the measures and it comes back.
Current thinking appears to be to let it out in 'waves', periodically lifting the measures allowing more people to catch it, building up some kind of resistance and easing the pressure on NHS..
Meanwhle no-one really knows how many have had it without knowing (asymptomatic cases). Testing to see who's had it will be a key mlestone if it can achieved throughout the population and I think will allow us to bounce back quicker.
There must also be many man hours being wasted (albeit understandably) by those self-isolating 'just in case'.
PS As much chance of catching it in Aldi wrestling over a tin of beans than in my local I reckon.. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

Very funny.
Word up.
The scientits that work for the authorities found the virus covid19 using a Scanning Electron Microscope.
They are still searching for images of a nameless cock. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

back to the original question. does a helmet and full leather suit offer full protection?
I know that those mouth masks people don't do much, as they don't protect the eyes and mouth, but a helmet hopefully does?
why does not everyone start wearing bike helmets?
i want to see boris johnson with a bikers helmet on giving a daily update about the virus ____________________ My wife asked me to get her something that goes from 0-100 in under 5 seconds for her birthday. ......................I got her a bathroom scale. |
