The DVSA has suspended tests yesterday and today 19th and 20th March. I would be very surprised if they reopen the test centres from Monday.

I have my Mod 1 test booked for Tuesday. Any bets that it will be at least 8 weeks+ until they reopen? I think that is optimistic.

Oh well, more important things going on than my mid-life crisis!!

Stay safe people.

I', an instructor and I can not get a test booked until at least end of may.

I'm cancelling all the courses I have had booked between now and then as I cannot get the training done if they have no tests to go to.

If the business survives we will be busy when this is over.

If they see an easy ‘nick’ I’ll bet they won’t be to busy.

The DVSA have just officially suspended all driving tests for ‘up to 3 months’ so the key words there were ‘if the business survives’. I know that if I have no DAS work in til the end of May, there’s no way I can afford our 6 grand insurance renewal, so that’s gonna be game over for me, and I guess an awful lot more of us.

We're in the same boat. Courses booked, but no tests. Cbts might keep us going for a bit I hope.

Quite a few people I work with looking to SORN the cars and save some cash by riding a 125 for work purposes. A lot of the young lads are £1500ish for insurance, not to mention normal fuel and upkeep costs.

Local instructor I recommend is rammed and all his part-time instructors are offered daily work. How long this lasts is anyone's guess though.

Looks like I was optimistic with the timescale.

So do I buy a 125cc to keep my skills up, or just do a few extra lessons when the ban ends? Not sure if I could go back to 125cc to be honest.

Hopefully the schools will prioritise those who have had their tests cancelled when everything eventually goes back to normal.

My thoughts also go out to the motorbike schools. Guessing a lot of people will put off learning to ride due corona/financial uncertainty.

Jesus, I'm really surprised this has also been cancelled. There one on one and with tests there is little to no contact.
Yet another business to suffer.
As a business owner with loads of cancellations this week I know how you feel.

There may be some way around a lot of the direct contact, but, it's difficult to see how it can be implemented quick enough to stop some schools going under. We can train everyone up to test standard and wait for opening up of dates, this may mean from July onwards trade will recover.

A 125 and practice now seems a logical plan if you can afford it.

Then don't make it easy.
If they are still happy to go after people for piss poor reasons then not only are they harming that person but everyone else.

Examiners love any excuse to have a day/week/month etc off.

Not really mate.. believe me any of us would rather be out in this amazing weather on our bikes helping new bikers get on their way. The culture where I work and my colleagues is very much that we and the ATB's get on very well and will do what we can to help out. This is a government decision, not examiners wanting a day off.

I've not stopped working. Fortunately I have a laptop.
