If you have travelled add your experience here.

Just travelled 5000 km with a car to Bulgaria and back to the UK with my wife and the boxer Jimmy. It was an urgent family reasons trip and a living hell. Serbia closed the border 15th Mar Sunday evening. We took reroute via Bulgarian mountain pass Petrohan full with ice and snow. Than Vidin Dounav bridge 2. Than Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany. Germany closed the border and I took remote border crossing in the middle of nowhere Austria country roads where 2 kind German police officers took pity on me and let me through!

Based on my experience if you need to travel make sure you have a good reason and they will let you through.

There was about 1000km big 18 wheelers line in lane 1 at Austria/German motorways.

My average speed for the whole trip was 65 mph with cruising speed of 120 mph in most of Germany (and Austria/Belgium).

I've got flashed by only 2 speed cameras in Austria.

Was supposed to be going on holiday beginning of April, me and some mates off to Ukraine to see Chernobyl and the likes. Been looking forward to it for the past 6 months.

Fat fucking chance of that happening now.

I think thats pretty much all the travel experiences youre going to get for the foreseeable future.

Selfish prick. This is why open borders are part of the EU problem and morons like you are why it's spreading so fast.

I bet you're out in the sunshine today, strolling around a park or walking along the coast with all the other morons.

It was family emergency travel getting my dementsia mother in law into a care home you utter moron.

It gets worse! 3000 miles (and how many stops?) across Europe, sneaking across closed borders to visit someone in the highest risk category. Then proclaiming it on a forum.

Went for a trek in the Dales with my brother yesterday and we went in separate cars just to make sure we weren't breathing each other's air Laughing. (A proper trek, zero humans anywhere, it was great).

On the way there we we passed so many people in the villages treating the countryside as some kind of corona virus safety retreat zone where it all gets magically safe because... I dunno... fresh air?

Same again today as I drove over to my parent's house for a very very very fleeting visit. All the Yorkshire Dales tourist spots were pretty packed, no more or less than you'd expect for the first hot day on the first weekend of spring.

Bikers, cyclists, ramblers, families with their snot nosed kids, all in big happy groups, giving zero shits about what's going on in the rest of Europe. Absolute plebs, the lot of them.

It was not a visit. I literally found a good specialised care home and helped her with moving into it. You can't do that remotely.

Why didn't you stay there in lovely euroland rather than come back to a country you detest because of Brexit?

I am not on my much needed holiday in the warm Canaries, soaking up the warm sun and recharging my batteries. No, I am in my lodgings browsing the internet wearing my warm jeans, a big fluffy fleece and long socks and furry slippers. Thankfully it has been a sunny outlook the past couple of days. I am gutted though. I couldn't go on holiday earlier because I had to finish off my college degree and the apprenticeship EPA. Now I'm finished - the virus is upon us... Sad

A work friend of mine was in Spain 2 weeks ago and got back ok. a group of his friends were out there a week ago when Spain went into lockdown. half of them decided to say fuck it lets go out on the piss we know better ( guys about 20 yrs old). Police saw them and it was no chit chat advice, it was a baton to the face straight off. no language barrier, no checking paper work...non of that shit, just straight off physical deterrent. funny how they stopped the you cant stop us going out mentality in 0.5 seconds straight Shocked Laughing Laughing

I genuinely worry about how our lot are going to behave. They're bad enough when given limited temporary powers during protests. It's kind of expected from the Guarda Civil, they are a throwback to when they were effectively a branch of the facist government.

I've worked with the UK police doing riot training before, acting as an angry mob when I was in the TA (best days pay ever!). We had instructions to goad them, run at them and launch a variety of smaller missiles at the shields, they had instructions to stand still, hold their shield line and ignore. Basically to get them used to the situation, see how they responded and show them that their gear works.

Despite knowing it was a mock-up AND knowing they were under assessment, some of them still couldn't keep themselves in check.

So yeah, give them sweeping powers and there's no knowing what they'll get up to.
