Here is one for you. Today is a very special mothers day.........It's mothers day quarantine edition!

how did you cope on this very special day.

I brought my mother a box of chocolates and a card.....that I cannot give to her, unless it is put in a special box labelled 'biohazard'.....and then left on the door step as I run off and hope that it is not contaminated.

what did you do?

I emailed her, first apologising for emailing her twice in two days as she considers herself lucky to get a quarterly update from me and secondly advising her not to go out gallivanting.

She replied that she could do without both me and my sister's advice and that she would be going out for a walk (in her defence, she does live in the middle of nowhere), oh and that if she has to go into lockdown with my stepfather, who's been stuck at home since having a TIA in Finland back in January, that one of them would die and it wouldn't be her!! Ditto, without the getting the board out. I hadn't spoken to her for 5 years when she died. Why should I start now?

I didn't have to.
Mothers Day in NZ is a different date entirely.

I always optimistically buy her a card in March, meaning to send it in May, but usually she pisses me off so much that I decide not to bother.

I had to have a security check for work, and had to go back on FB to ask my nieces where and when they died /lived, I got divorced in '94, didn't feel like answering 500 questions and then repeating it all again....so never saw them again, already had history with the old man, so didn't lose any sleep fucking him off.

I went round and she cooked me a Sunday Lunch in exchange for a card and a box of chocolates.
I expect she will self isolate in the coming days

To be fair, she collects vacuum cleaners, like I collect bikes.

She likes to have 1 for downstairs, 1 specifically for the kitchen, 1 for upstairs and 1 for the camper, oh, and a hand held spare !! I wouldn't mind if she wanted cheapo vacuums, but, it's mainly Dyson or Bosch !!

Nothing.
My mother hasn't spoken a civil word to me pretty much since my birth. I've been constantly blamed for being born and ruining her life. She's even blocked me on facebook (before I even realised she was on fb). Laughing Nevermind. I've survived fairly well without her. Karma

I'm sorry but I cannot resist - She has a better taste in Vacuums than you have in bikes. Wink Whistle
