Today Mid Wales has sounded a motorbike race track. The number of bikes on the road has been something akin to a Spring bank holiday.

So why are so many bikers not adhering to Government advice?
The first day of spring? Likely last chance to get on the bike for several weeks?
A dislike of being told what to do?

Or just they don't give a damn about anybody else than themselves?

Probably something to do with the advice being to socially isolate, not stay indoors at all costs. There are no travel restrictions.

In fact the government has specifically said that pleasure riding is still OK.

Not just bikers, Snowdonia reported it's busiest day ever, the peaks were so clagged up that the Park has reported that it would be impossible to achieve satisfactory social distancing measures.

You aren't going to transmit or catch a virus while riding a solo motorcycle.

Only if you stop and interact with people/places. So the only real risk area is a fuel stop. Pay at pump kind of takes care of that, don't even need to take your gloves and helmet off. Wash hands when you get home. Done.

Mate of mine is on a BMW K Owner's forum, where someone has posted :-

Quote:
Sadly - but maybe necessary - my governement (Belgium) has decided that recreational motorbiking is forbidden (anti-Covid-19 measure). One may only use the bike for necesary transport (go to work, food shopping).

Can't find any other references to this.

Thanks for the link. There sure is mixed messages on this. BJ's briefing on Monday was to avoid non-essential travel.

Nowhere. I have a good view of the trunk road from my house. The sound of a performance motorbike being opened up travels for miles.

Ferry services to the Scottish Isles are not allowing travel to non-island residents effective tonight. Essential travel for residents and cargo only. Hopefully, that'll keep the idiots out.

The usual invasion of tourists via liners is also cancelled. This is excellent news as we're one of the only counties with zero confirmed COVID cases so far. Thumbs Up

It was also the sunniest and most pleasant day we have had so far this year. No surprise the motorcyclists took advantage
of that given they may end up imprisoned in their own homes for months on end pretty soon.

Anyone who is out for pleasure purposes are just tools,
Why are so many telling us to stay home if its ok to go out for the day on ya jollies,
Im ok Jack attitude is fine, but what if you come off ya bike and you have the virus but don`t know . . . utter, utter twats, pass it on to 999 responders who have NOTHING else to do I bet,
I hope everyone thats being a tool catches it passes it on to loved ones,
Then they can look them in the eyes as they die a slow and painful death . . all for a ride out.

Shouldn't judge everybody by your riding standards. Riding is possibly one of the best ways to socially distance, even when you do have to travel.. I suppose you recommend catching the bug riddled bus to go and get your shopping, as that is bound to present a lower risk of catching c19. The issue isn't the travel, it's the method, and the lack of social distancing either whilst using your chosen mode of transport, or, at your destination.

People are not taking this isolation thing seriously enough.

I provide support to an industry classed as critical workers, namely the freight clearance industry. If this stops, we starve.

Instead of going to site in Dover and risking infection, we're shipping stuff to and from me to be repaired or sent back in the rare cases where remote support can't be used.

Just been to the tiny post office up the road. Went in the car, took sanitiser. Sanitised my hands before going in to find 2 old God bothering crusties from the church stood right next to each other, trying to post 87 fecking no critical parcels to their members!

It's only a little sub post office, so I went back outside and waited. Giving the bloke 2M as he kept going back to his car to carry in another load. By the time I got served, there was a queue outside the building stretching around the corner as everyone tried to distance themselves.

Use a fecking courier for 87 parcels you morons and don't bother going out in public unless it's critical. Grrrr

What's stopping you using a courier?

Cut off time. It needs to be there tomorrow. I'd missed courier collection.
Parcel Force cut off for collection at the local Post Office is 4PM.

Well, if you know the cut off time, you should work to it. You don't know that what the other people were sending wasn't important, do you know the contents of the parcels..

And just remember folks, when you join all the other morons at the petrol stations, thousands of people have touched that pump handle, door, card machine terminal.

As one of the selfish morons having a ball riding round Wales yesterday, I can confirm that all the fuel pumps had disposable gloves provided, with signs exhorting people to use them. Everyone did seem to be doing so. I entered the shop by pushing open the door with my back, queued 6 foot behind the guy in front and paid with my contactless payment card. Declined the offer of a receipt.

You brought your antibacterial wipes didn’t you?

No. But FWIW, handgel yes, which I used for belt and braces before remounting.

Other than that my only other human interaction was with the mate I was riding with; we stopped in laybys for coffee, butties etc we'd brought with us, and consumed them while staying the requisite 6 feet apart. I took care to maintain at least that distance from his rear wheel at all time, too Wink

Oh, and after I got home I had no option but to go to the supermarket and jostle with all the other punters for the remaining morsels of food which hadn't been stripped out by rabid panic-buyers. Just saying - if and when I go down with this lurgy, it wont be as a result of riding a motorcycle

My theory is that every pleb and its dog has the same idea: "Go to the countryside because there's nobody there."

Unfortunately these plebs don't have enough brain to go to the actual countryside, so they flock to the only places they've heard of, the tourist spots with the car parks and the ice cream vans. With the thousands of other plebs who all thought the same thing.

Fuck off you self righteous prick.

I was waiting for it to be delivered to me to set it up and ship out to the customer for Tuesday.

Instead of trying to point score on something you know fuck all about, go and have another wank and put me on ignore, you tedious turd.
