There's lots and lots. I particularly like the fact that camera technology has allowed some incredible footage in more recent times.
Long ago I rented a VHS tape called 'V for Victory'. A few will know of it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy0SPp6yy2c&t=143s
At the time it was awesome. This one is similar but modern:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugZKd4mqvwQ
The footage is fantastic. It shows a race where every inch will kill you and how the rider manages it. Once onto the moors it shows how with a bike you can lose the modern world for a while and find peace on a bike.
Supermoto. Yes during the making of the video there will have been more fails than wins but it does show how connected a rider can become with a machine. (I wanna see Easy-X doing drifting donuts on his DT..)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYzcrdBf7OM
It's just a shame that I'm at an older age where when we were teenagers and had offroad and our first road bikes we didn't take video footage of the tomfoolery. ____________________ CCM 404 DS |

What is the difference in lap times between these 30-odd-year-apart videos? I've got "The Isle of Man TT" somewhere, but it was printed before 1983 |

The veneration given to a trustafarian holidaymaker just because of her genitalia makes me nauseous. Bravery is sacrificing or risking one's own safety, health or wealth for others, or for a cause or principle held close to the heart. Deep-sea fishermen, medicins sans frontieres, nurses going to work despite not having proper masks in the middle of Covid-19, astronauts all exhibit bravery. Those Nordic girls beheaded while captured hiking in Morocco were not brave but foolish as to the nature of the world. Calculated risks for worthwhile gain are what it's all about. My impression is that many of us on this forum have actually lived out in some remote countries for a time; a bit more demanding than asking around where/who had a 10mm socket to lend, or bike oil to sell, while passing through. The foundations of our society and its technology were established by men who developed great things, including motorcycles, under the burden of finding provision, resources and safety for their families. They created the environments in which people could do things like visit the Niagara Falls on a bike. Is that not more worthy of praise than changing an inner tube in the Sahara. Is that not bravery. |

She's not a trustafarian; she's travelling on her own money, raised by the sale of her house, and from income generated by social media.
It's a fact that, in very many countries, lone travel is more dangerous for women. Which means it takes a certain strength of character.
But, in any event, I don't think anyone is claiming she's some sort of hero. People like her stuff ('venerate' is hyperbole) because she's an engaging personality and visits some interesting places on her bike. |

Welcome to the forum.
I do not accept what you say. "Money raised by the sale of her house", and then living off "income generated by social media" - this is not how people in the real world behave. I am astonished that you find this claim credible, and I would like to ask you how you "know" this to be true.

I have met many "travellers", most of them trustafarians and bogans, and not one of them had the strength of character of, say, an oil company man or international banker. Not even close.
I am a man. In South East Asia, people tried to con me every single day. It got serious, on a couple of occasions. On one occasion, it ended up at about 2 in the morning, in a face-off with a taxi driver who tried to rob me and failed. You want to see my medal? Don't have one. You want the Youtube video of the incident? There isn't one. Mine is the typical story of a man who just went out and did what he had to do to support himself and save a bit of money. No adulation, no veneration. None expected and none given. As for things that happened to me in Britain - won't even go there. But, suffice to say, I don't think a world tour of the nicest sightseeing places in the world, compares in any way with the knocks and bangs you get as a man who actually goes out to the local boxing/kickboxing gym and takes on a real challenge, or who took building work when needs must despite having 2+ degrees, etc. Life with a safety net is never the same as without, and both types of life betray themselves. |

I know what she says about funding the trip to be true, as I know her personally.
Your anecdotes don't detract from the fact that lone travel for women is often more dangerous (as often reflected in Foreign Office advice). And that parts of her journeys would be a challenge for anyone to complete on a motorcycle. To me, more so than working on the buildings or kickboxing (I've done the former, and boxed rather than kickboxed). You mention the character of 'oil company men'; Noraly worked in mining all over the word, for years. (None of which is to make any grand claims of bravery (and nor does she) - that's a strawman.)
You seem preoccupied with the idea of adulation, veneration, and medals. She's not asking for or expecting these things. Nor do I think she receives them; people enjoy her channel for the reasons I've already said.
It's fine that you don't like her stuff, but a bit off for you to try to portray her as something she's not. |

I watched some of her stuff, I quite liked it to be fair and didn't feel it was that contrived.
The problem for most of us is we have family responsibilities, that we take seriously. If you don't (take them seriously) then you have to be somewhat selfish to take part in these adventures (think James Cracknell).
But if you have no responsibilities why not have a go.. The vlogging bit I guess helps to fund it, maybe. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750
