Is it wrong that I want more than ever to take my bike out tomorrow for a spin?

Stories I've heard so far...young lad stopped in the street, asked why he was out, said shopping for food, asked to show food, had grapes, declared "non-essential" and fined £43.

Person driving to countryside to do exercise, told "illegal" to drive to locations to engage in exercise.

yeah, I understand your issue. This is my first year with a full bike license, and when I am off work (which is essential work) I can see the bike in the garage, waiting to be let loose on the road (especially in the hotter days)

sadly through, as per above posters comment, I have to sadly say that going out is not the best thing to do, as we all have to be responsible especially if you look at the virus death toll that is occurring across the globe with this. Sad

I posted this in another thread where someone posted 'just go and be careful':

MarJay wrote:
I think this is the kind of selfish attitude that is not going to get us through this. Sure the chance of accident is low, but it's still greater than sitting on the sofa playing Ride 3. As I said, all it takes is enough people to have the same attitude and reach a critical point where at least 1 has an accident. There is going to be a percentage of all rides that result in an accident. So by say a million people flouting the law and only 0.1% have accidents, you're still looking at 1000 accidents that take away from Covid 19 treatment, or risk catching Covid from hospital, or risk even not having any assistance due to the saturation of NHS care.

Safer to say home. This is not about the individual, it's about the whole.

I am riding to the shop every other day. They say to minimise shopping but then there is also the issue that shops are still really low on stock. My local coop is only allowing you to buy 2 of any item. Not sure I could even manage a full weeks shopping and if everyone did this, the shelves would be empty.

I will admit to taking the back roads and doing them on my slowest bike.

Often it's a platitude, or a political slogan, but likely never in human history has it applied so well to a situation. The entire globe is in this together.

I just got kicked off one FB boaters group for saying 'When this is over you will be able to buy a boat on the cheap off someone desperate to sell'. I got called a callous cvnt (which is probably true) for taking advantage of others misery.

It's all lovey dovey and were in it together and to be honest it annoys me intensely. If we are in it together, why have you stockpiled all the shite going.

The bitching about using the towpath is unbelievable.

It's a boat, move it to the other side of the cut.

It's not that easy. The off side is not dredged, you would struggle to moor there. It's private property, so mostly illegal and where there are moorings, they are paid for private moorings. The fees boaters pay entitle them to moor and use the towpath as that is owned by the CRT.

That said, it's got stupidly out of hand with whining on both sides. The thing is the towpath is narrow, you can't keep social distancing especially with people on pushbikes.

With the weather being so nice it makes it even more torturous but we all need to stick to the rules. Not doing so (and there is an infuriating number of people flaunting those rules) is likely to both prolong the current restrictions and probably result in even tougher sanctions.

See this as an opportunity to do all the little maintenance things on the bike. Thumbs Up

Where have all these police come from all of a sudden? For years you wouldn't see a single copper around our way, except for ones in cars with flashing lights, but now they are all over the place.... There was even a video-van looking for packs of feral youth and BBQs on the estate last night!

I doubt it is ex-coppers coming back, as the ex-coppers I know find the idea of swapping their pensioned existence for abuse truly ridiculous.
