I have just the 1 domain name that I'm reluctant to let go for sentimental reasons. The current host thinks £14.39 to renew it for 1yr is acceptable . . . I don't.

I used to know this stuff, but who is cheap/reliable to park it with & renew for a reasonable cost ?

.com, .net, .org, etc.?

Do you need anything more than parking? e.g. blanket mail forwarding.

You can't say that and then not tell us what the domain name is. Razz

I'm worried that someone who is "comfortably wealthy" and has done, seen and knows everything is worried about £14.39. Smile

It's a .co.uk & it has been with me since a few days after Nominet was formed.

My, hasn't the market changed since my days of dealing with Planet Online . . .

I just checked with my domain registrar and they're about the same. .co.uk is about the cheapest TLD you can get. Best search for someone who might do a multi-year renewal, that'll get the cost down.

It’s slightly expensive, £12 was my renewal in December.

Yeah £15 a year is about the norm the now.

Depends on how catchy it is too. Popular ones can go for thousands, but I'm sure you know this.

I can be pathologically mean but that sounds reasonable even to me.

I too keep a domain name for sentimental reasons and have found UK-Cheapest.co.uk to do it for me. Might be worth a look.

He’s renewing, not registering.

Oh, I didn't know there was a difference.

The few I've bought have always been around the £15/year mark. In fact the first payment (i.e. registration?) was usually cheaper, offering two years for the price of one.

Cheap to get in, expensive to leave. If your business depends on it and the hosting company is crap, that cheap initial year to two will soon feel like a daft choice,
