Hi All,
I went to get an MOT this morning on my Z750R and, having been belting about on my Z125 all winter, got the fright of my life!

The duel compound front tyre on my 750 is in an appalling state, it looks like I've spent a couple of thousand miles going round and round in a clockwise circle!

Neal at Frasers in Glos. was kind enough to point out that I didn't have any air in my tyres (so, I'm a bit of an old fool); and after he pumped them up for me I managed to make some noise on the way home, but even so:

Has anyone got any experience of 'tri-compound' tyres?
Or should I just go back to the simplicity of single compound?

The problem seems to be that I just don't like going on motorways/duel carriageways, so I am not wearing out the centre of the duel compounds'.

I wonder if the pressure has been low for a bit. That'll increase the side wear.

Suspension setup also plays a part. There are a few resources out there for "reading" your tyre wear as a guide to fine tuning suspension setup.

Maybe you just want single compound tyres. they make dual so you don't square them off. If you're not squaring them off, you probably don't need it.

I've been asking around on the phone;
Tri-compound doesn't mean different compounds on each side of the tyre, that's only really used on Moto GP bikes which is a shame.

I think I'm just gonna stick a fresh Bridgestone on the front to match up with the rear for now.
Might get some super sticky ones next time I need a pair together.

Looks like I'm gonna have to blast up and down the M5 from time to time to wear out the middle of my tyres!
Oh yeah; and check my tyre pressures a bit more often.

Got to go and do some washing up now on account of the fact that I can't find the oven at the moment!

See yer later,
Dave.
