For just over a week now I've been able to get tested and take a family member for testing, I'd just have to show my work pass, but as no-one has any symptoms here I dont really see the point.

The public testing just ends up pandering to the usual worried well. For a start all those who wasted NHS time trying to sneak themselves a test they knew they didn't need should be denied one. As MPD says its useless information unless you either going to be admitted to hospital or work somewhere like a hospital or care hoime or are a cop or something where you can spread it to lots of vulnerable people.

I think the wife and I had a mild dose of the Wuhans.

I was off sick mid February, with the weirdest cough I've ever had. Went to bed fine, woke up with bubbling lungs and a constant cough that wouldn't shift. The following day I felt shite, might have had a fever but couldn't tell as I was helping my brother clear a partially downed tree so it wouldn't fall on his house. Felt better by around day 4, but the cough carried on for about a week. Then the wife got the same thing, with a definite fever.

Lucky old you Mr Shaggy!

We had it in the Pepperami household.
We had severe fever for days , a bubbly cough for weeks, lethargy for weeks and difficulties breathing for the best part of two weeks.
I wouldn’t go to hospital or call a doctor because I wanted to be at home and not end up in a pine box, because that seemed to be happening to everyone going to hospital at the time Shocked .

Happy days, it seems to have gone away now , fingers crossed 🤞.

Me: Hiya, [father-in-law], I'm doing my bit to look after the old and vulnerable in society... do you need anything from Tescos?

Father-in-law: Fuck off, ya c*nt!

...

Father-in-law (over 60, COPD): Actually, yeah, can you get me some bananas and a pint of milk.

So yes, testing would be nice if I felt I had symptoms.

Unless I'm missing a point though unless tested before every interaction with him and kept somewhere sterile between test and interaction then it's basically a bit of a chocolate fireguard (same argument testing workers unless preshift every day).
