Suzuki Van Van 125cc - Bike not starting

Hi All

Can anyone help?

I tried starting the bike today, light comes on and engine wants to start but lacks charge. I tried once again but the power drains quicker. Light remains on.

Is it worth buying a charger or simply a new battery?

For a one off, just find a neighbour with a car and jump leads. Connect up for a couple minutes and try again, no need to start the car.

If you get a charger, RC hobby chargers are excellent, far better than automotive types and much cheaper. Look at hobbyking.com

I assume it has had little use recently. Even so, any battery problem, is likely not the battery. Have a look at the wiring from the stator to the regulator, the connectors are often burnt.

Does the battery appear serviceable, no bulges or cracks in the casing? Are the terminals tight with no corrosion? Are the cells filled to the proper level? These are some checks you can make right away.

Unfortunately, you must fully charge the battery before you can test it. Otherwise, the test results won't be reliable.
