Naturally I now want a DT250..

It's a film from 1970, ostensibly a comedy drama about two bike racers, but it has a slightly philosophical meaning.

Stars Robert Redford (this doesn't commend it) and Michael J Pollard, has the worst back projected racing scenes this side of Silver Dream Racer and a plot so thin, it's positively anorexic.

It's one of those oddities that bikers think they should watch, but it's not a biker film.

Passes the time if there's nothing better on: 4/10

There's several films from that hippy period used to be on BBC and C4 regularly back in the 80s but are now definitely not PC enough (apart from being a bit crap)
Two Lane Blacktop was another, later films like The Loveless referred to the 'darks' and incest so now also Tut Tut Police
At the time the sub plot - now deemed not acceptable - was hardly noticed.

Mainstream TV is in general unutterably bland and unwatchable due to all this prudishness, where as in the 80s C4 took delight in showing granny shocking material.

Anyone remember Vanishing Point?

It was a typical car crash movie of the era. It got great reviews but had a random naked girl on a motorcycle the censors weren't happy with.

I liked her though.

It's a nostalgia thing. from the teenage days when seeing tits and bikes on TV was novelty. Enjoy it for what it is.

The 175 is the better bike. I've ridden both back to back. Thumbs Up


IIRC the DT175 didn't come out till 1974. The DT1 (like wot is in the film) that kicked off the line only came as a 250.

I do remember that - starring Barry Newman, right? Interestingly I have zero recollection of the hot naked motorcyclist - and I'm sure at that age it would have made a lasting impression, leading me to suspect the version I saw must have been 'doctored' Sad

Me too. I remember the book talked a lot about 'points' and I had no idea what they were. I found out later that since it was written (1970's) points had been long since superceded by spark plugs.
