This map for London, which is rather sobering. I wonder whether any others exist, for cities here or abroad:

I suspect German cities like Kolne which were saturation bombed by us would look a lot worse.

Also we made a mess of Dresden. I was told we did that to appease Stalin.

A bit like all the Poles who fought for the RAF in the Battle of Britain. Heros but weren't allowed in the victory celebrations in case it upset Stalin.

I think there was a commitment at the beginning of the war not to use Chemical Weapons or Civilian Bombings, which the Germans ignored in 1940.

Unless it's like Concentration camps and actually the British did it first.

The other day, in a Facebook group someone shared an image showing Londoners taking refuge in a tube station for the night.

Something like this.

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ba/6b/0f/ba6b0f9b9d8c6b32f4f71cf7fb6d699d.jpg

A quite poignant comment came from a woman, slightly older but not "World War 2" old, who said she was recently in Germany visiting friends. They were catching a subway line and she told her mate about how Londoners took shelter in tube stations during the Blitz.

Her mate turned to her husband: "Hanz, they bombed London!"

It seems Germans were really kept in the dark for quite a while about how big the whole world war thing really was.

Dresden was mostly revenge for Coventry.
