Hi Folks,

finally got my sons MRT 50 running (thanks if you jumped onto that thread), now a new problem.

Speedo reads in KMH not MPH and says the speed is wildly inflated. I've downloaded the manual and changed the settings (not exactly the same as manual says but close enough). The problem is that the settings aren't saved so when the bike is off it resets to default.

I think some RT 50's have a battery but this one certainly doesn't so I don't know how the settings can be saved, assume the display had something built in but cannot find any details. New display is about £150 so want to be sure before changing. Other electrics supplied by a magneto I think (so no lights when engine is off etc).

Any ideas ? Need an MOT so obviously need to resolve although doesn't affect actually riding.

All help appreciated Thumbs Up

I'm looking at the pictures of speedos for that sort of bike...

You'll probably have to take the speedo off but if you flip it over does it have a circular panel next to where the cable goes in?

Like this one on eBay:

If so get a 2 pence piece or similar and it should open up revealing a calculator-style lithium battery. Probably a CR2025 or CR2032.

Easy-X you are a star, sometimes the most obvious things seem to be invisible. Whipped the headlight off to gain access and sure enough a CR2032 battery compartment.

Thanks Fella Very Happy Thumbs Up
