Probably not MSN or the rest of the press bullshitting, almost certainly the po po. Every time I have been pulled over for speeding on the motorway (in a car, never been stopped on my bike) they have always exaggerated, grossly exaggerated in some cases, the extent at which I was speeding. I'll be on cruise control in the outside lane at 98mph actual speed (not indicated speed) and they come up with bullshit like "you were weaving in and out of traffic and speeding up and slowing down but we clocked you at 106mph at one point". Twice now I've had to defend this at court, prosecution turn up with the police statement but no footage, I admit to speeding but NOT doing 106mph and ask to see the evidence, prosecution conveniently say "there's no need for a second day in court, we will just take your word that you were doing 98mph and prosecute you for that speed". Funny that innit! Either the prosecution had already seen the dash footage showing average 98mph or it had been deleted and the prosecution know there is no evidence.

Problem is I never get stopped for just doing a bit over the limit. In fact I don't think I ever just do a bit over the limit. I'm always within what I call the safety zone (78mph) or (VERY RARELY) I'm in a mega rush for something critical doing 98mph. Can't see the point plodding along at 85mph if you're not in a rush for something critical just isn't worth the risk and the time you save is negligible.

I just think the police, and traffic police in particular, are all in competition with each other. Who can catch the fastest motorist today and get the most brownie points? There's definitely an agenda I know this for a fact as every time I've been caught they fucking lie and exaggerate my speed. I think it just winds them up when they catch someone at 98mph they've been following you for like 2 miles hoping and praying you will tip that magic 100mph mark and you just don't do it, it infuriates them.
