IMO one of the downsides of prioritising indoctrination over education is the previous dribble of quality writers and directors Hollywood would have had has dried up*. And anyone with a bright, creative mind probably doesn't have the correct politics for Hollywood today.

What to do? Paper over the cracks apparently! To cover for the lack of talent in storytelling with faux-outrage at public criticism. Critical Drinker suggests the genesis was the vapid 2016 version of Ghostbusters but the technique of talking up twoddle I would say goes back to art-house cinema with copious chin stroking and pontification on "the film's message."

One could argue that the film industry is "systematically racist" and ask how any of the brown people will get experience if we don't give 'em a chance! Racist bollox: Indian cinema is doing very nicely, thank you very much.

But a black mermaid? It doesn't make any sense! If you spent half the time under the sea you'd want to hoover up as much Vitamin D as you can get. It makes the proposition of black elves almost look reasonable

Deliberately race swap a known character (fictional or historic, it matters not) just to score brownie-points and with the deliberate intent of race-baiting fans? What's to stop ppl from cancelling subscriptions and taking their money elsewhere, white guilt?!

Surely time to work in a WEF conspiracy: "You will own nothing [of your own culture 'cos we stole it] and you will be happy [or we'll woke-scold you till you are]" which in itself is a re-work of the classic "the beatings will continue until morale improves."

I always think back to my childhood. On the bus down to town with my Nan (before she lost her marbles) and she'd spy some punk rocker with a pink Mohican, jab me in the ribs and stifle a titter. Unsaid: "get her!" or "who do they think they are?" but always the undertone was bemusement.

But it's now as serious and relentless as the Borg: "Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile." Declaring pronouns is a similar challenge: your culture has been dismantled, you will pander to my every whim no matter how absurd. Any dissent will be viewed as an attack on the Collective and therefore violence.

This has to be the most egregious challenge (till the next at least)
