Bandit has been down on power recently, been stripped down and here's what I found.

Turbo off:

Oopsie.

Back from Midlands Turbo, new bearings, seals, compressor wheel and blasted housings.

Bike also had a running problem at idle and low speed, When I removed the carbs I found this:

Plastic caps have given way under boost, pushing a slider diaphragm out and blowing two of the vacuum o-rings out from under the takeoffs.

Easy fix with a new slider diaphragm and a few new o-rings... And a couple hundred quids worth of billet caps. Shocked

Bike is also receiving a new fuel system as a matter of course, so new pump, filter, governor and hosing. All vacuum hosing is also being replaced.

Sump off for a clean out in case the bearing material from the turbo made it back to the bike.

Also had new feed and return lines made up for it. Trying to give the rebuilt turbo a chance at life.

Chain and sprockets are knackered, which is a fairly big deal as the bike runs a drag spec chain. Picked up a Regina drag chain and a set of JT steel sprockets, the rear one in matte black for added moodiness. Finally made the wheels the same colour for the first time ever, satin blacked and discs refitted with new titanium bolts.

Forks have always been minging. Before I put the front wheel back in I rubbed them down and sprayed them black.

Bit better. New chain is gold so added tart when it goes on.

That's where I'm up to at the moment, next job is to get the carbs back in with new throttle cables and then cut all the joining collars from silicone tubing for the carb to plenum joints and charge pipe joiner, then rebuild from there. I also have a new wastegate to go on.

The turbo headers are nearly shot, so I have purchased a tig welder to make some newuns. That will be interesting. Laughing the originals will go on for now to make sure all the running/boost problems have been addressed.

Forgot to say, I also cleaned it. A couple of before and after shots. This is a daily ridden bike, and it goes out rain or shine. Or snow.

And a glory pic of the pile of shit that came out of the sprocket cover.

Also got a new numberplate made up. The other one has been eaten by the rear tyre under power.
