I though a gear from ford popular rear diff was more likely.
What's that flange-like piece. Rolling Eyes
Maybe it's a trilobyte on a pewter plate

Could be a horseshoe crab (Trilobyte) with the shell and gills intact.

No? I do hope they don't smash it up. Whitby museum might want it. Where's it from, Runswick?

I think that is a prime specimen of a Hubbus Cappus, quite rare these days, but plentiful up till the end of the 70s.

Nearly, just up from Sandsend.
They can sometimes look metallic sort of brassy but not sure what to make of it

I'd guess that it is a strongly keeled ammonite like Eleganticeras elegantulum. It could be worth a professional dealing with it, 'cos it looks quite nice!

Edit: The "brassy" look is from pyritisation ("fool's gold").

Edit again: I really do hope they don't hit it and smash it up. I am dead jealous.

Horseshoe crabs and trilobites are different species. Thumbs Up

It looks like it might be an ammonite keel but it'll need professional preparation to expose it properly.

It’s the outer whorl of an ammonite.

You can see impressions of smaller ones in the matrix.

I’d be tempted to clean that up to see what’s deeper in it.
