The media is general is mostly interested in pushing left wing propaganda so I don't really watch TV anymore. I used to watch the news but now I've stoppped watching that too. What's the point in paying to be wound up by someone?

But they're not doing it to appease the crowd they're doing it to please the ideologues.

Nothing new there though, and I think there's quite a thin line between 'crowds' and 'ideologues' sometimes.

Boris Johnson did similar with his Brexit stance. Choosing the route that was best for his own personal continuation.

English comedy was and mostly is still about irony and self mocking. Making jokes about the absurd, making satire an art form. Just look at the likes of the Alf Garnet character, mocking a bigot by letting the bigot spout off about all sorts of topics.

Perhaps we should let the Lefties, the Woke, the SJWs, The Black Lives Matter brigade carry on and show people how stupid they are by showing them doing what they do. Rioting and looting being called peaceful protest, Kicking whites down and calling it none racist, showing Blacks killing Blacks and saying it's Whitey's fault.

These are the Alf Garnets of today.

Meanwhile Merriam Webster et al are frantically re defining the English language.
Doubleplusgood luckwise but ungood thoughtcrime, my ancient Chambers dictionary that pre dates Newspeak. Perhaps I should hide it.

To be fair, this is apparently nothing to do with goose-stepping Germans etc, as popularly assumed, but because the version of the episode which has recently appeared on UKTV includes a scene with the Major banging on about niggers and wogs, which unsurprisingly decades ago was cut from the version shown on the BBC.

Just read that the Fawlty Towers episode "Don't mention the war" has been taken down as unsuitable. I mean WTBF? I'm speechless

It's not for the goosestepping, though.

Has anyone seen Cleese's response? He's such a legend.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-53020335

Quote:
"The BBC is now run by a mixture of marketing people and petty bureaucrats."

He added: "I would have hoped that someone at the BBC would understand that there are two ways of making fun of human behaviour.

"One is to attack it directly. The other is to have someone who is patently a figure of fun, speak up on behalf of that behaviour."

"We laughed at Alf's (Garnett) reactionary views. Thus we discredited them, by laughing at him," Cleese wrote.

"Of course, there were people - very stupid people - who said 'Thank God someone is saying these things at last'. We laughed at these people too. Now they're taking decisions about BBC comedy."

He continued: "But it's not just stupidity. The BBC is now run by a mixture of marketing people and petty bureaucrats. It used to have a large sprinkling of people who'd actually made programmes. Not any more.

"So BBC decisions are made by persons whose main concern is not losing their jobs... That's why they're so cowardly and gutless and contemptible. I rest my case."

Thankfully there's the older generation with nothing to lose that can still speak for the rational man.
