Old news really but after being a Honda dealer for something like 60 years Tippetts had been forced out unceremoniously in March.

I dropped into see them this week. Now sporting the customary perspex screens on the desks they're back up and running again:

I'll not apologise for the shameless plug given they've been selling and servicing motorbikes in some fashion for over a century. Very shortsighted on Honda's part.

Bob Minions in Derby seem to no longer be Honda agents

I'm sure Honda must have their reasons, didn't Suzuki have a rationalisation of dealerships a few years ago, and possibly Yamaha as well, if I remember correctly, but I might be wrong on that.

Honda seem to want to go down the route of the big car dealerships. Ford in Cobham is a great example: clean & clinical corporate decor, all the sales people suited & booted. In other words completely soulless Sad

The dictates from Honda: "this sort of flooring, that colour of desks..." so-called "improvements" that run into 6 figures. Ironically, based just on the numbers, Tippetts historically sold the most bikes when it was just sawdust on the floors Rolling Eyes

It wouldn’t be the first time (worldwide) that Honda has cancelled dealer contracts and made them reapply if they want to keep the branding.

I don't want to say Honda don't know marketing - like it or not they changed the world with "you meet the nicest people on a Honda" - but ignoring history and sales figures seems an exercise in shooting out both feet Sad
