Needing some advice on painting some blank ABS fairings. I have done it before with some tins of spray paint and the result looked great but I am trying to work out how to get a smoother finish for my other set.

For example, I apply a base coat of red then using masking tape a stripe of white, the white will be raised slightly creating an uneven surface.

Does anybody know how I can spray paint a design over my base coat and keep a smooth finish?

Either spray the colours direct onto primer instead of over each other, or do several layers of lacquer and sand back there to get a consistent depth.
