Seems to be a few choices:

1. ped....err no!

2. automatic bike. eg Gillera DNA50 but these are just peds that look like bikes and are heavier. Feel better than peds though and look nicer (a bit).

3. Geared bike. eg Aprillia RS50. Yor best bet especially if you take your CBT on a geared bike, then you dont have to do another course when you want a geared bike. I also found that it was easier to control than auto thingys and gets you used to gears from the start. All round your best bet, but dont know about cost or insurance as it was a few years ago when i got mine and i knew a friend of a friend who knew an insurance person. Thumbs Up

Good luck finding something

Just look in the yellow pages under motorcycle training, find your nearest and give them a ring. You don't need to do your theory or anything for your CBT.

you're going to need to apply for a provisional driving licence (get the form at the post office). Once you've got that in your sweaty palm, you need to do your CBT. Try looking up local motorcycle training schools in your local yellow pages, they should cost between £80 and a £100. Then get your bike, insurance and safety gear and you're away Thumbs Up

To get your CBT simply find your nearest riding school (yellow pages) and get it booked. Im not sure what they do about geared 50's though, might have to do it on your own bike. This causes the problem of 'How the hell do i get there then??' which is always a problem (I got my mate insured for the day to give me a lift up). It'll cost about £85-90. Expensive but cant ride without it.

Once you've got you CBT you can ride as per the DSA/DVLA guidelines. Not too certain about these but its somethig like maximum 50CC restriced to 35mph, easily checked on the website. You dont need a theory test untill you want to take your practical test. If you just want to ride around then theres no need for it, but remember your CBT is only valid for 2 years

edit: You also need your provisional licence, forgot to mention that. Laughing

by the way, provisional license costs 18 pounds i think, and can take from 6 days to 3 weeks for it to come through the post.
hope you get things sorted soon! Wink

once your sorted with a 50cc, after a year of riding it you can upgrade to a 125cc.

i dont think you need to retake the CBT, you can just buy a 125 after one year and go. as far as i know.

someone tell me otherwise if im wrong.

You can ride a 125 as soon as you get to 17 as long as you have done the CBT Thumbs Up
