If you only cook them once they will never be good. |
Thank you. I know how to deep-fry chips. These however are a new thing called "oven chips". You buy them frozen, and put them in the oven to cook. When they come out, they are quite nice. Mine are not quite as nice as they ought to be. I have no deep-fat cooker, nor the desire to have one.
That aside, and to go off-topic: did you know that the best way to cook steak is to deep-fry it? It is! Really! |
Buy an air fryer, the extra top basket for delicate items. We use Tefal Actifry, terrific thing, frozen oven chips are crispy without any white bits, basket without the agitator is great for onion rings or croquettes, wifey sometimes par “bakes” some spuds in the microwave, then cuts into wedges, adds them to the air fryer with some oil and flavour (smoked paprika, chilli flakes etc) 20 mins later beautiful crispy skinned wedges, healthy and not dripping in fat, I reckon your oven crisps would come up a treat. Apparently you can do curries and risottos etc in it but we have never bothered, for baked veg particularly potatoes it's superb. |
