not sure what launcher is called..but the us gov launched some "secret" sats from an old 30 year old minute man ICBM yesterday rather than going the usual rocketlab, spacex, euro launcher etc.....and fuck me it was supersonic in less than 17 seconds.....like holy shit 1, it still works after 30 years, 2 it's the fastest I've ever seen an orbital rocket get off the launchpad,go supersonic and get to orbit in like 60 seconds!! 3, it did it so fast the take off to turning to follow the earths curve for orbit made it look like it just failed and would explode any second!!! amazing these guys developed this so long ago before gps was a thing!! half the people who designed and built these things have died of old age!! and 30 years after being made and due to be scrapped.....it works as soon as you hit the launch button!

The best part is because of the TWR on it, it does the gravity turn almost straight after launch, makes it look like it’s gonna flip and crash.

I've been using Niagara launcher for the last week trying to figure out what's good about it and why I would want to use it instead of the standard Sony Xperia Home launcher.

Surely there must be something good about it? Laughing

I use Nova on my S9

As to why would you want to "mess" with your phone..

Simple - to set it up how you want it setting up and not how the manufacturer dictates you have it.
Why would you want to "mess" with your pcs?

We allow our staff to choose between iPhone or Samsung Android phone.
About 75% choose Android. The majority of the iPhone users are sales/marketing type users.

What are the advantages of using Nova instead of the standard launcher?

Download it and look at the options is probably the easiest way.

The main thing for me is having a fuck ton of app icons on the homescreen.

As far as I recall it was because the front end was nicer to use

That's good. I have 16 with the as-released launcher. 20 would be nice, especially on a reasonable-sized screen (5.7", nearly as big as I want to go with a phone, and bigger than for instance an iphone se which is only 4.7") to have more. PLEASE will you quantify "a fuck ton" as it applies to app icons on your own 'phone? Oh, and how big is it?

Check my earlier post about Nova. The home and app drawer grids are both customisable. I used to run a 6x7 grid, but you can go higher if you want (with subgrid positioning of the icons if you're so inclined).

You can also have multiple app drawer pages (I had one for often used apps for easy access, and one for never used/bloatware).

I really have no idea what any of this launcher stuff is about (missile pics excluded) - is my life incomplete?

8x6 grid on my current phone and a big clock so 36 icons + the clock.

You can run up to 12x12 with Nova.

Installing Nova takes <1 minute, easier to just download it, have a look and see all the options than trying to describe everything.
