Hi everyone I have bought a bike and didn't notice that the speedometer did not have a backlight it was only when it got dark and I noticed that I could not see anything on the dash..everything else works on it just wish I could see it in the dark .its the koso db-01r.if anyone has any idea why it's like this I would be very grateful for any help you can give me.

Wired one up for a friend a while back (It may have been the + model)- Fairly sure I remember issues with the backlight, had to hook the low beam wire I think?

I don't know why these sort of posts interest me but I came across this on KawiForums.com, post #17 of #19. (For an ER6.)

I know this post is old, but I have answer to your problem. Conect your low beam (green and yellow) with your ignition power. The low beam wire is for your back light on the koso db 01r+

Ties in with what ThatDippyTw*t said. You'll need a wiring diagram for whatever bike you have.

* Flip, I lose karma if I use his real name! In which case how has he managed to get 4 greens?

it's been a long time since your post, but yesterday i had the same issue as you.
no backlight on the koso DB-01R!

Opened the speedometer and checked for the backlight LED...
Unfortunately my LED was burned, but this model has a 2 color LED (blue/orange) installed!

Search for the B and A pin markings on the left side of the display, follow the trace from the B and you will find a current limiting resistor, de-solder the resistor and solder it on the unpopulated pad that goes to the A pin of the LED.

If all the above is, all Greek to you, just put a wire jumper between the A and the B pads!

That's it, now you have a working back light on your Koso speedometer! Very Happy
