So apparently Owen Jones bumped into someone and spilt their pint.
There was a fite (although I think this meant Jones just got hit).

Offender got almost 3 years, which seems quite a lot when you consider what the pi-.. travellers are getting away with.

It seems the punishment was due to it being a hate crime as Jones is left wing and LBGTQEIEIo.

QC sez: "I therefore propose to sentence Mr Healy on the basis that this was a wholly unprovoked attack on Mr Jones by reason of his widely published left-wing and LGBTQ beliefs by a man who has demonstrable right-wing sympathies."

"Following Healy's arrest, a search of his home found a number of items connected to far-right ideology, including a collection of pin badges linked to white supremacist groups."

ohhh dear, pin badges.

"In his evidence, Mr Jones said: 'I'm an unapologetic socialist, I'm an anti-racist, I'm an anti-fascist and I've consistently used my profile to advocate left-wing causes.'"

Before knocking him maybe you should read his book Chavs. It's a well written investigation into the resurgence of snobbery and the demonisation of the poor. Yes he's annoying in his contemporary position as a go-to talking head for the media on social issues but no more so than any of the rest of the wandering tribe of self promoting pundits that infect the news and current affairs scene.
