Apart from the fact I didn't say it was ONLY the preserve of the left, did I.

Whatever. You exclusively targeted the left (whatever you think that is). Too late to backtrack.

I'm not backtracking.

I specifically targeted the leftie nutjobs because, guess what, the subject of the thread IS ONE.

Your comment was designed to say it's not only lefties, sometimes it's Tory voters too. Fine with that, it doesn't go against what I said.

"the subject of the thread IS One", not exactly coming across as reasonable there.

So what's your point? He isn't? Or I'm not allowed to be unreasonable about him? Or?

What's the Labour anthem? "Keep the red flag flying" or something, isn't it? A flag is just a representation. British patriots from both the left and right could equally fly the Union Jack with pride. Somehow though, it and the English flag have become associated with the far right. They should get their own bloody flag, as the far left have - the hammer and sickle.

Everyone who is British has the right to fly the Union flag in my view, be they left, right or centre. It's their flag. Just because a far right wing group waves it doesn't change that point, it's still not their flag, it's OUR flag.

However, for whatever reasons the left regard patriotism or Nationalism as dirty words. You only have to look at some of their high fliers to see that. Foot at the Cenotaph in a dufflecoat. Corbyn and his gang obviously. Even Starmer is trying to put a patriotic side to Labour because most of the so called red wall workers that turned on Labour are actually patriotic but that won't go down well with the howling righteous.

There is only one reason I'd vote Conservative at the moment - they seem to be doing the right thing in the negotiations with the EU. However, I don't trust them, and fully expect them, at any moment, to cave to all the EU's demands.
Labour is completely dead to me, unrecoverable. We need new political parties that will roll up the cultural revolution and bring back decent values to our society. Not viewing things through a prism of solely either the left or right, they will be based on what is good for Britain and the British people, and remove all the nastiness of the extremes.

Laurence Fox I hear is starting such a new party. I don't know much about him, but taking the personality aside, to me, he speaks a lot of sense thus far. I will be watching his progress carefully.

If the Tories can't sort themselves out, and no new parties can make an impact, then we are headed for awful times imo. Virtually no one under 30 will vote for the former. All I can hope is that I'm dead and gone before things get too bad. I feel very sad for those with children and grandchildren.

The socialists only love themselves. For everyone else, there is only hate.

And then there's the so called Liberal Democrats. Instead of stating what they stand for under new leader Ed Davey, and striving to offer a persuasive argument, they're going to spend the next 3 years "listening" to what people want and then they'll say that's what they think too. Where's the conviction? How can you trust such people with power? Best just to pack up and leave, but career politicians won't do that.

Yep, they'll listen to the people and then tell them that's EXACTLY what they were thinking of doing and then, once in power, Middle Finger you people.

Pretty much what every party does to some extent anyway.

The point of me making this thread was OJ using the shooting to try and see a right wing hate non crime where there was none.

His tweet was along the lines of "Dreadfully sorry about the bloke shot BUT....."

The whole thing is completely ridiculous. OK some hard righters might have flown a similar flag in the US in 2017 but anyone with half a brain cell can see that Hackney Police were using it to honour the fallen rather than spread right wing propoganda.

The lefties will probably say "Oh but they used a right wing symbol, context is irrelevant". Therefore I expect Owen will be going round the houses of every Hindu and Buddhist in this country demanding they remove their swastikas.

I like Owen Jones, come election time every TV appearance he makes costs Labour votes.

I remember him on QT and he got a right bashing from the audience and media for what he said, which suggests Promise.

Maybe, but my conclusion is that it's just more noise hiding the signals, which makes the thread open season as far as I'm concerned Laughing

Anyway, who was the bugger that switched summer off? Mad
