I have pillion cover on my standard insurance which covers so I'll, domestic, pleasure and commuting. Does anyone know what the insurance implications would be if I were to charge people for pillion riding (e.g. pillion tours of the English countryside as an AirBnB "experience")? I assume maybe I would need to upgrade to "business" insurance and read the small print carefully to see if it covers that activity. Anyone have any further insight?

That's "for hire or reward" rather than just business use.

Fuck that for a business, you'll be uninsurable after the first SMIDSY that doesn't go in your favour or when you get sued because a drunk 16 year old girl falls off the thing.

Not even like you could charge much.

It's not only insurance that would be an issue. In order to carry passengers for hire and reward you will need a private hire licence from the local council.

Good point
Also thinking about it, what would be a significant advantage of it
over using a car for the same purpose?
I'd rather be sat in a comfy car munching biccies and tea going
"oh look, cows!" than having to wear helmet, gloves, boots n shit
with virtually no luggage space.
Ahm oot

You'll need a big bike.
1000cc +.

A 600 or almost anything under 1000cc will be pantaloons.

Virgin limo bikes went under because the idea of taking pillions for money scared the bejeezus out of insurance companies. Just sayin'.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
