Any thoughts on the tyres? This isn't a potential problem being new old stock allegedly a couple of years old is it?

It should be fine as long as there's no visible cracks on the tyre.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but tyres are stored after manufacture with some form of coating to stop degradation, which is why you're meant to take it easy on new tyres while it scrubs off..?

Yeah - 2 years doesn't sound a lot old. I've done 250 miles pootling about the locality on the GT250 this summer on an ME22 rear tyre with a 3 digit date code (pre 2000?) It seems like teh centre part has won through the aged 'case hardening' and is now. relatively, soft. On the other hand I could be talking shite - Ive not ridden in the wet but grip seems good enough for my riding.

Tyres I ordered are virtually racing slicks so wasn't really planning on taking them out in the rain if I can help it LOL.
