My moronic nephew has got himself in deep shit. He got caught speeding on the public highway on a non road legal MX bike that wasn't insured or that he even had a licence for that he uses for riding around a farm. Apparently the copper was a bit pissed off with his attitude and has done him for everything he could, no licence, insurance, MOT or tax. Speeding at 40mph in a 30 zone and Road Traffic Act (construction and use) breaches.
Basically how fucked is he? Are we talking points? Fine? Ban or worse? The bike has been seized so he has already been hit with £150 costs plus daily fees. Is there anything he can say or do in court that would help? Will he actually be done for all the things the plod reported him for?

Totally screwed. At least 6 points and a fine for the IN10/LC20 plus 3 for the SP30/50 and a potential for Construction & Use convictions too.

That's what I was worried about. I am hoping that the courts will be lenient and only consider some of the offences. I have warned him about his attitude to people before, but he is a typical 19 year old that thinks he knows everything. If he hadn't been a twat to the copper who pulled him he might have got off more lightly.

What is it with some people? For the sake of biting your tongue and a few 'Sorry officer' you walk away with a fixed penalty ticket but oh no, have to mouth it like a pikey and wonder why the cops get shirty.

I would guess it would be cheaper to leave the bike there and let them crush it, buying a new farm bike than to pay the release fee and storage.

Does he have a driving licence to lose, or just a provisional/nothing?

The proper advice - wait for a letter to come through the door, then get legal advice.

Be prepared for some punishment. If teenagers riding bikes illegally is a problem in the area, then an ASBO or equivalent isn't out of the question.

Even if some of the road traffic offences aren't brought to court, they will bring the ones with the biggest impact. No-one is getting away with just a speeding ticket for doing everything wrong.

Don't expect your nephew to be able to afford insurance for the next few years.

Oh well, maybe it will do him some good and hopefully knock some attitude out of him.

Hopefully he'll be able to keep the ban down to a month or two. Legal advice is recommended.

I bet he only passed within the last 2 years? That 6 points for no insurance will mean he'll have to retake his test.

Anally raped whilst blowing off the Aussie team as well....

If he's on his 2 year New Driver Act probation then he's not going to have that for long....

Why? He sounds like a twat and should have the book thrown at him. Maybe it will encourage him to grow up a bit. Could have been much worse.

Not sure how long he has had his car licence but I'm guessing either way he will have to get used to a pushbike. That will be fun in the middle of rural Dorset.

Nothing would surprise with that boy. He isn't the brightest bulb in the box.

Had.

If he's getting all that thrown at him, it'll probably be a complete license revocation. retake everything. I've been there. I couldn't even get an insurance quote for 2 years, and after that it was a "fuck off" quote. The IN10 will only make it worse.

He should tell them he stole it but dindo nuffink because fuck the police. Then he'll get an £80 fine, a short community payback order and a free outward bound holiday.

He should have just ridden off down a dirt lane...

No numberplate so no recourse.

That'll teach him.

In the USA that would probably get you shot. No, over here, you'd claim to be a traveller.
