You can only ride a 50cc when you're 16 if I remember correctly.

Even restricting a 125 won't help.

When you pass your test on an A licence, and are 17yrs old.... you have either 2 yrs or till you are 21 whichever is the longest (I beleive) before you can ride unrestricted...

Just reading this now for some reason, but with the posts about droping your new bike, I was told I would drop my bike within a month, I dropped it on my 3rd day riding over a 125cc. Stalled while attemtping a U turn, Figured its best to let go of the bike rather than risking my ankles being snapped (which would have happened)
I was on my Kawasaki ER-5 and all that was marked was a slight slight scratch on my exhaust and paint was taken off my bar-end. Thats all. Im glad I went for more of a "Big bike upgrade" rather than going straight in at a 600 bandit which I almost did

I took my test yesterday, failed for forgetting to cancel my indicator five minutes into the test Rolling Eyes Realised what I'd done and cancelled it but to late. Kept going through the test got one minor for hesitation overtaking a car doing 55 in a 70 limit.
I'm fine with riding it's just from doing DAS you don't have long to get used to the feeling of speed and that your indicators wont self cancel!
Ah well. I rode back from the test and canceled them every time, it just cost me £109 for that one stupid mistake.
Oh and I wouldn't recommend dropping an XJ600S outside the test centre while pushing it Embarassed Having a waiting room full of examiners take the piss is not a nice feeling before doing your test and my back's killing me today from quickly picking it back up.

if your 19 you cant ride anything unless you do you cbt.

Once you have done your cbt you can ride up to a 125 motorbike geared or automatic.

If you have your cbt you can ride up to 125cc

If you progress on to take a full automatic license then automatics are the only bikes you can ride.

Think the biggest automatic out there is a 400cc bike.

I own a Vespa Gt 200cc which i use to get around London.

Nope, you've got to be over 21 to do that.

Arrow Riders 21 or over.

If you reach the age of 21 during your 2 year restriction from sitting your A (restricted) test then you can dive in and do a DAS test to get rid of the restriction - this is called Accellerated Access.

Lets see if I can help.

There are tests for 3 types of full entitlement on your licence (as opposed to provisional entitlement with a CBT),

Class A
No L plates, allowed to take Pillions and to ride on Motorways. Unrestricted motorcycle choice afterwards.

Requirements: Over 21, Valid CBT Certificate of Completion (DL 196), Valid Motorcycle Theory Certificate. Test taken on a motorcycle of at least 35kW (46.6bhp) - usually a commuter 500.

Class A1
Restricted to 125cc bikes a power output of up to 11kW (14.6 bhp). Allows you to take off L plates, have pillions and ride motorways.

Requirements: Over 17, Valid CBT Certificate of Completion (DL 196), Valid Motorcycle Theory Certificate. Test taken on a machine between 75cc and 125cc.

Class A2
No L plates, allowed to take Pillions and to ride on Motorways however are restricted to sub 33bhp (25kW) bikes with a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg for two years - not including any periods of disqualification. After the two years there is no restriction.

Requirements: Over 17, Valid CBT Certificate of Completion (DL 196), Valid Motorcycle Theory Certificate. Test taken on a machine over 120cc but not larger than 125cc and capable of at least 100kph.

All the test are identical in the the skills you are expected to demonstrate.

The course for a Class A licence is called Direct Access for people on a restricted licence

However if you have a Class A2 licence and can't wait for an unrestricted licence you can take the Class A as soon as you are 21 and it is referred to as Accelerated Access

So AA and DAS are identical except for your starting point, with DAS you start with a provisional and with AA you already have a full motorcycle entitlement, albeit restricted.

The only reason to take the AA when you are 21 is to get rid of the 33bhp restriction on your licence. Personally I don't think it is worth the costs involved.

The power output of an engine is measured in kilowatts (kW) or brake horse power (bhp). A kilowatt is the metric measurement of brake horse power. One brake horse power equals 0.75 kilowatts.

Any bike without a manually operated clutch, which includes the DN-01 and any bike with a klicktronic box...
