So I bought a nice new Sony UE50TU8000 TV.

Problem is when I plug my existing Panasonic Soundbar in, it 'can't regognise' the HDMI input.

Is this something to do with a Sony/Panasonic Feud, and you can't use two competitors devices together?

Is there some neat App I can download to fix the problem, or do I have to discard my Soundbar, losing money and more importantly contributing to environmental waste and making Greta even more angri.

Please help! The future of the planet depends on it.

Try a different HDMI port, isn't it supposed to be on a port marked ARC?

I would of thought HDMi outputs and cables were mostly universal, could it be related to the power required though.
Not enough/too much. Rolling Eyes

Thanks,
I paid £45 for installation by people who in the end knew less than me i.e. nothing.
You are right in that there was an ARC port (marked 'eARC) so I switched the XBOX HDMI with the soundbar, putting the latter in eARC.
THere is some hint of sentience, the volume on the TV remote now accesses the soundbar, but it still cannot 'see' the soundbar.

Does your sound bar have an optical input? Does your TV have optical output?

My Yamaha soundbar, has learned my TV remote control volume up and down and that's all I do.

Very easy.

Thanks everyone, managed to get it sorted.
Not exactly how. It seemed to work after I went into the 'unknown input' settings and set it to 'surround sound speaker' even though it wasn't a surround sound speaker.

Special thanks to King29, all underwear fetishes forgiven and forgotten.
