I have a ticket booked for France on Thursday, but can't go since that country went on the Naughty List last week. Evil or Very Mad

I have a 'flexi-ticket' which is transferable to a different date but have questions (obviously am trying to contact the company but yeah good luck with that Freddy). I wonder if anyone here knows?

I don't want to cancel for cash, as that involves a 25% 'fee'. I'm planning on another trip next year so would prefer to transfer the cash to that. However, this will sometime (tbc) next September (ie more than the standard (?) 12-month lifespan of their credit notes - is that going to work for me?

Do I need to press the "CANCEL" button on their website to do this? I don't see a credit note option and am worried I'll press that and just instantly get the 75% refund instead...

Also. Will it matter that next year's trip is on a different route?

Call them and ask.

I had a flexi ticket booked to Spain earlier this month. They cancelled the route and offered alternatives. I called them, got through in under 5 mins and asked for a full refund, which they gave with no quibbles. Very helpful. I would expect they would be happy to book you on a crossing next year now, or give you a credit note with a longer expiry date.

Different route should not be an issue.

Have you tried doing that recently?! Rolling Eyes Laughing
I did get through eventually, by webchat although that crashed out several times before I got an answer.

FWIW, in case anyone else is similarly afflicted...
With a "Flexi-ticket" they won't offer you a credit note/voucher at all - that only happens if they cancel the actual sailing (you'd think you'd be due a full cash refund under those circs, wouldn't you, but no. You can transfer your ticket to another date (on any route), and they will refund if the new ticket's cheaper. You can do that more than once; ie you can transfer it to a 'placeholder' journey, and then move it again once your plans are firmed up.

In the end I decided to go for the 'cancel for cash' with the 25% fee. Interestingly, apart from the onscreen message confirming cancellation, there was no acknowledgement by email, so I'm now fully expecting them to deny all knowledge of my cancellation and say i was a no-show. I always keep screengrabs, too - why not this time!! Rolling Eyes
