What would you say are your three worst habits? Mine could be not enough shoulder checks, not always looking far enough ahead and red mist. I definitely let arsehole road users piss me off when it would be safer and make life loads easier if I didn't.

A fourth bad habit - which should probably be higher up the list - is feeling the need to crack on a bit because someone in front is doing the same. I suppose this is a variation of red mist shit. In any case, it's certainly not consistent with "riding your own ride".

Excess speed (GSXR will go north of 150 every single time I take it out).

Dangerous overtakes.

Rarely check what's behind.

1/Singing the last song I heard all the way to work inside my crash helmet.....even when I don't know the words or hate the song in question. Stopping myself then realising I am doing it again a few minutes later.

2/ See 1

3/ No, that's all I think.

Easy:

1) Spending a ridiculous amount of time on overrun, especially in built up areas with a high degree of echoing. Technically, its engine braking, but I'm sure you're meant to use it "aswell" as discs and pads, not "instead of"....

2) Filtering in absolutely every single situation. This applies whether I'm in a rush or not. This also applies if the traffic is moving efficiently at the correct speed limit. I cant help myself.

3) staring at other peoples bikes. Especially newer models, which I find some quite ugly.... they're paying 10 grand to ride around on what looks like Darth Vadars head, after its been face f**ked by an anti tank missile.......

Aggressive filtering. Most cars probably have the right to say "He came out of nowhere".

For the concept of travelling at a speed where you can "stop on your
side of the road within the distance that you can see to be clear", it doesn't always include the "on your side of the road" in my calculations.

Speed limits treated like suggestions. Posted speed + 10mph is more to my liking.

Comfort braking when theres no need

mind wander on the boring bits

When following someone, looking at them instead of the road in front of them and ending up making their mistakes

* Not paying attention to the engine and forgetting I only have four gears.
* Forgetting that a Harley can actually go faster than this.
* Assuming "the stance" which makes me look like I am up myself.

I seriously need to get my arse back on a jap bike now and again Laughing

Filtering when I absolutely have no need to do it.

Speeding.

Singing along (badly and loudly) to whatever songs are on the music machine. Compounded when stopped at lights and wearing an open face helmet. Embarassed

1. Forgetting sometimes when touring two up theres someone else on the back.
2. Accepting the challenge when a sports car tries to race me from the lights. Prepare to get a good spanking.
3. Not gripping the tank enough under heavy braking.

Speeding.

Passing on the left.

Comfort braking. It's not a corner unless I've had a wee brake.

Yes to these - filtering, always.

1. Hands to tight on the bars when cornering.
2. Using the racing line. I don't mean to do it and can cut the inside a bit to fine. Need to get out of this habbit as 1. happens.
3. All leatherd up regardles of time of year. Wish I felt 'alright' in jeans but I'm paranoid which leads to bad habbit 1. again

1. Getting impatient with fuckwits who sit dithering at junctions and roundabouts. I have almost rear-ended several people who have stopped at an empty roundabout.

2. Getting distracted by attractive women/guys. Embarassed

3. Refusing to be kind to fucktards who can't read road signs/road markings and get in the wrong lane at junctions/roundabouts. I know I should let them in, but I rarely do.

Locked/stiff elbows. Catch myself doing it sometimes.

Zero tolerance for spunk guzzling rectum wranglers that sit a foot off your back tyre. I'm a big lad and not shy of having a discussion of a persons driving skills, or lack thereof, if they choose to get really silly about it. I should be more tolerant, but I'm not, and not likely to be.
