My winterisation consists of this:

a). Ride the bike less cos it's colder and rains more

b). If I get caught in shit weather or if the bike comes back damp/wet/muddy, find a bucket of water and a cleanish, biggish sponge and get the worst off, then possibly make fairly gestural attempts to towel it dry with some filthy old rags I can find

c). maybe clean and oil the chain a bit more

d). Possibly brush a bit of acf50 onto exposed bits like twin shock springs or something

Result? Bike tends to survive winter pretty well and doesn't really look that much different from one year to the next. I suppose if you're committed to commuting on it, more drastic measures are required. But generally, my motto is fuck it.

Hose the bastirt doon using a hose and cold wahtur.

Then Scotoiler 365 the hoowur.

Or wash with hose and re-apply some ACF-50 to the places you noticed were falling foul to winter water.

Or, wash, dry, ACF-50 and cover with a tarp until next July/August. (End of the 2020 CV29 scare.)

I have tried my best at fite-ing winterness and I have failed.
It get to places eventually.

I'm going to have to put the muffs back on soon.

Need a new hot hand too, might go for some grips.

I usually just smear everywhere with grease and remove in April/May.

Winter's great. It's an opportunity to talk about muff more.

Edit: and smearing it with grease Bounce!

Well I'm getting banned as of December so I'm selling my bike and gear.

Guess I miss out on this winter by default.

I personally buy 4 kg of silica crystals and put a ring round the bike. This keeps the winter demons away till spring.

I’ve been through my fair share of winters up north beyond the wall. Its treacherous, black ice in the shade, cold tyres, cold hands. Deer waiting at the roadside to jump out at you. Salt on the visor. Watery eyes from the ice cold wind blasting through the gap of the visor.

Plus points the cold is an instant hangover cure from a night of drinking/camping and it takes about 3 hours for your willy to reappear when you find a heat source.

I found an unused new Oxford hot hand.

I guess at some stage I bought a new set, to replace a faulty loom or somet.

Hopefully i've got a few more weeks before the muffs need to come on, it's been unseasonably cold recently in Halifax.

Oh dear, that is not good for you. I bet you wish you were doing triple the speedlimit so it would have been worthwhile. Go to court like Sting in Quadrophenia. Cool as you like, throw your wallet to the judge and say take that loser. All will be good.

At least you have found a sensible solution with the drinking.

A bit of dirt won’t hurt as long as you rinse the corrosive salts out of it. Much like the OP, I’ll empty a couple of watering cans over the bike after a mucky trip, aiming to get at the bits behind the bodywork as well. Roll the bike forward and apply the brakes a few times to remove water there and that’s it. Otherwise I don’t “winterize.”

Go outside. If I slip, I get a taxi. Otherwise, more choke.

With no need to commute ... take it out for a ride after work if it's not raining. Don't mind the cold at all. Once it gets cold and wet it stays in the garage.

Some truth but some 'toys' are what some folk use to get to work, college, uni and preserving one's vital assets is never a senseless objective.
