Only just got new RAM and so far much better. I was not fushed on on RGB stuff, would have loved it in my gaming years.

Was doing some video editing last night, when i had the crossair ram it would only use say 20% even tho premier was set to use 90% of it. Last night premier pro was hogging 80gig of ram and when exporting it was rather quick to export 4k compressed which used to knacker my old machine.

Next thing i think will be trying to re organise my data so that i can quickly move project source files onto SSD as you can hear the drive struggling at times on playback.

This is probably about the worst time to buy a graphics card. Mining coming back, people working from home, and a big uptake in pc gaming! Even fairly old cards are going up in value. RAM is cheap though!

How about running 3DMark on it to stress test it, I just want to compare it to mine. It's ok posting values and comparing online, but all those figures could be mickey mouse really.... would be nice to see the results of someones machine that is real.
3DMark the 'TimeSpy' is free, other graphics you'd need to pay for.

I changed my dual monitors to a Samsung curved 4k, my original monitors were all 1900×1200. I prefer the curved, needed to install an app to allow you to spit the screen into customisable sections.

Hey that looks pretty good.
I have the 24 core Ripper, and have both OS's on NVMe SSDs via M.2 PCIe slots. My motherboard architecture diagram shows that the PCIe busses run directly into the processor, rather than having to go through the chipset. I'm running 4 SATA SSDs in RAID 10 but they do go through the chipset. I'm running a RTX2080 Ti 11Gb that should make a difference, I'm assuming a 3090 must be better.

Will run mine again as soon as it's downloaded.

I was gonna go for the curved screen but couldn't justify dumping my trusty 26" screens.

Regards
GB

What SSDs you running, this computer is for running premier pro, the only games I've played are assasins creed valhalla as it came with the computer and Counter Strike lol. Playing games is something i got hooked on years ago and trying to avoid it hapining again.

I notice lag issues with reading from my hdds but was copying to SSD scratch disks but looking at replacing to be all SSD then backing up to my NAS so no need for raid on pc.

I've been looking at these but at £1.3k i will need to wait. I shoot 5.2k / 4k so my disk sizes need to be large.

The two SSDs on the PCIe bus are NVMe (dig out make in a bit), and the RAID 10 are ForceMP600.

Here's my result....

Well, IMO a PC is only as fast as the slowest part, so anything that creates a bottleneck must be avoided.

My decision was all based around the motherboard, and that all peripherals could at some stage be upgraded if needed.

Without doubt the choice of a motherboard that let me put the OS on the PCIe bus was a godsend. Then naturally gen 4.0 but checkout the NVMe type SSDs and the speed increase compared to standard SSDs. IIRC NVMe are 6 time faster. Plus now they are on a bus that doesn't go through the chipset (TRX40) how's that for removing a bottleneck.

The RAID10 lets me load data from the SSDs in parallel so yet another bottleneck reduced. I think my system is slower than a gaming machine due to the fact that I've fitted ECC RAM, as I wanted a workstation rather than a gaming machine.

I can run Chrysis 2 with full settings, and get no lag, in fact I haven't found anything yet that causes problems.

Yeah my bad i thought RAID was more for backups never realised you could run parallel which makes sense that it will put from two drives etc for the same data.

My drives at present are:

OS M2 = 1 TB SSD
Scratch Disk = 1 TB SSD
Work Drive = 8 TB HDD
Photo drive 10TB HDD
Video 1 8TB HHD
Video 2 8TB HHD

Most of my storage drives are almost full and these backup via a 10 bay NAS.

Im looking at speeding up the PC and these drives can go into the NAS as they are NAS designed drives.

The only lag i see is when its reading the HDD for photos / videos.

However that's about 4k worth of SSD which is mega out of my budget now.

Im open to ideas Smile

IMO Somethings not right.

You have a better processor, faster RAM, better GFX card, and are using a NVMe SSD, so in theory should be getting a much better result.
The only negative I see is that the motherboard manual doesn't specify that it supports NVMe on the M2 slots (unless you can find it.)

1. Which slot is this in?
2. Have you installed your OS on it?

Do you use these?
