Provisional Licences... Bikes and Cars

Hi,

At the mo, I have a Provisional licence with Cat. A and Cat. B entitlement (Car and Bike).

If/When I pass my test - from what I understand, I send off the gubbings from the test center and my current licence to the DVLA... Who then send me a proper licence. Will I still get provisional Cat. B entitlement on that - or do I have to do something else in order to get that (i.e so I can start learning to drive a car)?

Also, as soon as I get that back - my 2 year "probation" period starts, correct? If I pass my car test in say, 1 years time - do I have 1 year in which I can get no more than 6 points, or two? Or 1 on the bike and 2 in the car? From what I understand the licence is independant of the vehicle you are driving

If someone could clear it up I'd be most greatful.

Hi

You 2 years / 6 point limit starts from you test I think, and is from your first test irrespective of extra tests in the future.

Think your licence should come back with provisional car entitlement still on it.

You will get your full licence A back with provisional entitlement for cars still, it will be written on the counterpart.
