Afternoon all,

I’ve just purchased a headlamp upgrade for my Honda CG with a brighter H4 bulb. The problem is there seems to be slightly less space in the unit then with the original Stanley one and as a result I’m not able to fit all the extra wiring in. Does anybody have any suggestions? Is it possible to have some of the wiring outside of the unit? If so presumably it would have to be waterproofed and secured?

I have a tried adding a photo but the site doesn’t seem to allow it at the moment. It’s a square unit.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

What model and year of CG125? Can the headlamp come on with the engine off?

You may or may not be able to use a standard H4 in there anyway, on older ones, you might be limited to 35w.

I'm surprised you can't fit it in to be fair, there isn't that much difference in size between an H4 and a (what are they p36?).

How much extra wiring is there anyway? Surely it's just a case of adding an adapter ring for the bulb and a different 3-pin connector on the end of the wires?

Thanks for the response. It’s a Y reg (2000, reg 2001) Mexican import I believe. The lights don’t come on until engine has fired but once it does they seem to be working fine.

The H4 unit comes out further than the old 35w one especially with the 3-pin adapter. (don’t have old bulb here so not sure of model).

I’ll have another fiddle tomorrow but I don’t want to snap or break anything!

So a direct lighting one.

Be aware it is unlikely to be able to power any more than a 35w bulb. I believe you can get 35W H4 bulbs but just be aware it won't power a 55W one properly, it'll just glow dimly.

I'd be surprised if you can't re-arrange the birds nest to accommodate the bulb, Coiling it round the edges of the headlamp shell usually leaves you a reasonable space in the middle. A birds-nest kind of appearance is probably what you're aiming for.
