Hi im turing 17 soon and i have a Derbi Gpr 50 2007, im wondering if anyone knows what else im going to have to get if i upgrade to a 80cc big bore kit and any other good racing parts i should get for it, im looking for speed and reliablity. If anyone can help me it would be appricated.

i thought about getting a 125 but my 50 is in a really nice condition and would be a shame to get rid of it

Save your money for a better bike when you can afford. Aftermarket stuff isn’t really going to help.

You can spend lots of money to make it go a bit faster or you could sell it and use that money to buy a 125 which will go lots faster than your 50 does.

If your 50 is in really nice condition then that's good for resale value, if you spend money on a big bore kit and "racing parts" then it will be worth less than it is now.

You like your 50cc now and think it would be a shame to get rid of it but once you've sold it and got a 125, you'll wonder why you were ever thinking of keeping the 50.

If yours is tidy and not an unfinished project in need of servicing then you should get a decent enough price for it. Don't know how this compares to yours but this went for £1,600 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Derbi-Senda-50-DRD-Pro-SM/203106260223

Wait until you're 17 then test ride a 125 and rethink your options. Diminishing returns on heavy modifying, especially on a 50. Remember it's not just the engine, the whole bike isn't geared up to faster speeds so you'll soon find the limitations of the brakes, suspension, geometry etc..

A rebuilt 50cc to 80cc with all the tuning dialled up to 11 would probably get you the sort of power a really shite 125 manages. Seems like a lot of effort.

"Don't waste your time and money on it" might be good advice but plenty of old blokes reminisce about tuning mopeds in their youth, so why deny this young fella the same? Wouldn't it be as futile but as interesting, educational, fun, cool, as the stuff we do to our 100+ bhp bikes to add 5hp?

Theres a big difference between a 16 year old trying to get a marginal power increase on a moped and a 17 year old doing it.

The 16 year cant ride a 125 which will always have a higher power than a tuned moped without massive unreliability that comes with that tuning.

Any 125 will be about four times as powerful and twice as fast as a moped.
