I recently acquired a lexmoto zsf for commuting to work in the early hours as opposed to my dirty vintage 2 strokes. It is superbly un-exciting except the rear shocks seem extremely harsh over bumps on the crap roads I have to use. Rider sag seems a around 30mm on the lowest preload (super harsh on the first).

Given that I have no idea if the previous owner/s have changed the shocks for something a little stronger, does anyone have any advice on replacement options to smooth out the sphincter twitching ride?

I am somewhat strapped for cash, so ideally want to make only one purchase. If anyone has changed their rear shocks (oem copy or something else), i would appreciate any insight.
TIA P

Lazy git Wink 30 seconds Googling gets you the original part:

I doubt these will be anything fantastic but they are pretty cheap. You might save a tenner buying something random from FleaBay but the results will be pot luck. Actual decent shocks (that you can rely on to be a one-off purchase) will be much much more Sad

Thank you easy-x. My issue is that while I can get random internet shocks, as you said they are a bit pot luck.

I was hoping for someone to chip in from experience as it took me 5 or 6 goes to find some suitable shocks for a 1974 cz. This time I haven't the time or cash to muck around.

The frame geometry meant that all standard replacements were too long (swinging arm clipped the exhaust) and random internet purchases were too strong (like riding a hard tail). Ironically I solved this with some knackered 350 shocks and adding weight to the back end on one bike and got a recommendation for a set for another (different geometry again)

Edit: It turns out that the original shocks are so soft that they need to be set on 4th preload for 1 up riding. .
